At St. Cadvan's Church, 11.30 a.m. on Sundays; Presbyterian Chapel, 10.0 a.m., 2.0, and 6.0 p.m., on Sundays. BOATING, FISHING, AND BATHING. — Pleasure boats can be hired in fine weather at 29. 6d. an hour for parties, and 4d. each is charged per hour in common sporting boats. Fine salmon and trout fishing is to be got upon easy terms by visitors and others in the river Dysynni, half a mile distant from the town. Some parts of the river are free. There are also numbers of streams and brooks in- habited by trout, and here all comers may fish ad libitum. The best known are Dolgoch, CynfaL and Rhydyronen. The celebrated Tallyllyn lake is easily accessible from here by rail to Aberganolwyn. There is also an inexhaustible fund of sport to be had free, with bass, &c., at the mouth of the Dys- ynny river. Bathing at all hours of the tide. WALKS AND EXCURSIONS.—The hard, level sands, which are over six miles in length, extending along the shore of Cardigan Bay, afford facilities ana pleasure to the pedestrians not often met with. Up Kyte's Rock, about half-an-hour*s walk from the town, is a magnificent walk. It is a rugged, bold rock, commanding a splendid view of the Snow- donian, Cader Idns, and Plynlymon ranges, and all the coast from Pembroke to Pwllheli. Glyndwr's Cave, where the chieftain is said to have found shelter during the reverses of fortune, will amply repay a visit. It can be reached along the shore in about an hour. Yyiisymaengwyn, seat of A. J. S. Corbet, lEsq., a mile and a half from the town. The gardens and avenues are some of the most magnificent in the Principality. Past St. Cadvan's Church, down PiUway, along the green embank- ment of the Dysynny estuary, and up the road run- ning parallel with the Cambrian railway, is another delightful walk. There is a charming drive up the fertile valley of the Dysynni, most of the way in sight of the Serpentine river, past Peniarth and Peniarth Uchaf, as far as the Bird's Rock. The rock is a great haunt of cormorants. About two miles further up the valley are the grand old ruins of Castle-y-Bere. Dyffryngwyn, the Happy Valley, affords another most picturesque drive. The cairn, which can be ascended in about half-an-hour from this valley, is a curiosity in itself, but the view from its summit is the chief attraction. PLACES OF NOTE IN THE TOWN.—St. Cadvan's Church is said to have been built in the early part of the 6th century, by the saint whose name it bears, and who came to Wales from Armorica to refute the Pelagian heresy. There are several sepulchral monuments of extreme antiquity, which are amongst the greatest curiosities in the county. St. Cadvan's Wells.-Tradition says that these old wells were celebrated for the curative properties of their waters a thousand years ago. St. Cadvan, the same authority says, bathed regularly in them, and enjoined his parishioners to do the same. The Archbishop of Canterbury and Giraldus Cambrensis refreshed themselves by bathing in these waters when on their pilgrimmage through Wales in 1180. Thousands of people visit them every summer. ABERDOVEY. [Agent for collecting the Lists, Mr R. REES, Chemist.] I POST OFFICE.—Closes, 530 pm. Delivery com- mences, 8 30 a m. ENGLISH DIVINE SERVICE.—Church of England 11 a m, Sunday. Occasionally at Calvanistic Metho- dist Chape'. WALKS AND EXCURSIONS.—Along the shore to Towyn (4 miles), down to the Dysynny (between 5 and 0 miles), where a charming view up the valley, with Cader Idris in the background, may be ob- tained. From Aberdovey to Machynlleth there is an enchanting walk or drive. The road for a good part runs along the river Dovev, whilst on the other hand the mountain scenery, with miniature water- falls at intervals, make up a scene seldom excelled. The paths up the hills behind the village offer very pleasant strolls, and command a grand sea pros- pect. About a mile and a half from Aberdovey, over the mountains, is that pleasant "loop-hole of retreat" known as the "Happy Valley," through which a fine trout stream runs, and ascending from which is a mountain called Gorlan Fraith, with a cairn on the top. The view from here will more than repay the labour of ascent: the Dysynny Valley beneath, Cardigan Bay, with the vast ex- tent of coast from the Carnarvon Hills, with Bard- sey Island lying off the southernmost part of the county, to Stumble Head, in Pembrokeshire, present a grand panorama.—Llyn Barfog. This romantic spot is within about 2! miles of Aberdovey, reached by a wild and picturesque route. Donkeys may be had in the village to "do" it. Aberdovey, by its proximity to its beautiful river, the Dovey, possesses great advantages. If acquatic enjoyment is sought, there are boats here to meet it—no fixed rates, which however are moderate. A boat trip to Aberystwyth, Borth, Towyn, or Barmouth, could at once be arranged by applying to John Bell, Life- boat coxwain Lewis Lewis, pilot John Nicholas, pilot; or Humphrey Walters; all owners of fine boats. Another source of enjoyment at this place is found in the extensive sand banks (on the other side of the Dovey) which at ebb are beautiful pro- menades. The sand banks are interesting to those interested in conchology, and the pools offer plenty of specimens for small aquaria. A most.attentive ferryman is always at hand, and ready to convey one to this interesting spot for a small fee, and to await the pleasure of return. Visitors OLAKOOTET TERRACE (TERRACE ROAD.)
