Piano tunine. 2s 6d ASSISTANT SURVEYOR'S SUCCESS. — We are pleased to learn that Mr W. H. Richards, assistant in the surveyor's department of the Barry Urban District Council, has been successful. in passing the studentship examination of the Institution of Civil Engineers, held on the 19th to the 22nd October last. CORRECTION.—In our report last week of the meeting addressed by Alderman Lewis Morgan at the Barry Dock Conservative Club, the name of Mr Peter Winde appeared amongst those present. It should have been Mr Peter Wride, of 29, Everard-street. Messrs L. Y. Owen and W. Sims should also have been included amongst those present. E. Westcombe, of Merthyr; and the following Monday night, clairvoyance and psycho- metry by the same lady at 8 o'clock. All are welcome. THEATRE MANAGER'S BENEFIT. — For the benefit of Mr Fred Conoeaux, the late manager of the Barry Hippodrome (recently destroyed by fire), a complimentary smoking concert was held at the Windsor Hotel, Barry Docks, on Wednesday even- ing last. There was a large audience and, assisted by a splendid orchestra, a first-class programme was rendered. LIFEBOAT FESTIVAL AT THE SALVATION ARMY.— A popular lifeboat festival was given, in character, at the Salvation Army Hall, Thompson- street, Barry Docks, on Monday evening last, Mr F. W. Poole in the choir. Messrs Griffiths and Lewis were the soloists, Miss Kane the elocu- tionist, and Mr J. F. Skinner the conductor^ The proceeds were for the band fund, and there was a large and appreciative audience. WEEKLY CONCERT FOR THE SAILORS.—Another enjoyable concert was held at the Seamen's Insti- tute, Subway-road, Barry Docks, on Wednesday evening last, when Councillor J. E. Levers pre- aided over a good attendance. An excellent pro- gramme of songs, recitations, &c., was rendered by members of the St David's Lodge I.O.G.T., Barry Docks, together with a sketch entitled U The Outcast." CONCERT IN BEHALF CF THE SEAMEN.-For the benefit of the local branch of the British and Foreign Sailors' Society, a concert was held at Tynewydd-road Congregational Chapel, Barry Docks, on Thursday evening last, Mr James Cruise in the chair. An excellent programme was rendered by Miss May Arthur, Penarth (soprano), Madame E. F. Pickford (contralto), Mr Dan Evans (bass), Miss Zella Barrow, Penarth (elocu- tionist), Master Con Drisooll (violinist), and MrR. T. Chinn (concertina), Miss Francis Bumford, A.L.C.M., being the accompanist. UNITED METHODISTS' ANNIVERSARY.—The mis- sionary anniversary services at the United Methodist Church, Court-road, Barry Docks, will be held on Sunday next, when the preacher at both morning and evening services will be the Rev E. R. Squires, Neath. Miss Florrie Jones, Cardiff, will be the soloist at the latter service. Mr Edgar Jones, M.A., will take the chair at a grand musical service in the afternoon, at 2.45, when the pro- gramme will be rendered by the Choir, assisted by Miss Nellie Westall, Miss Nesta Williams, Miss Mabel Pitt, Miss Lily Hoskins, and Mr W.
