Ftoodvale, near Llandovery, THE MINING COMPANY OF WALES, NOW INCORPORATED WITH The Rhonyd, "Penant Of Festiniog" Slate, and Denbigh Great Slab Quarries Company. CAPITAL. E120,000, In Shares of E-5 (,acli.-I)eposit, E2 II)s. per Share. PROSPECTrS. rpHIS COMPANY is FORMED for EXTENDING A the WORKS on the Magnificent VEINS of ROOF SLATE along the celebrated FESTINIOG RANGE. The rich and extensive COPPER, LEAD, and SILVER LEAD MINES, already very productive and developing along the Cwt CiPinvrH, GILVACH, and BLAEY-Y- PENANT Mountain Districts in Carnarvonshire, and the Great SLAB QCAHIUES in Denbighshire. RHOSSYD AND WRYSGAN SLATE QUARRIES. The Slates, now being raised from the Rhossyd Veins, just cut, have been pronounced by several Engineers and Slate Agents, as of a very superior quality, and the Veins themselves of the highest and most productive order in I Sound Slate Rocks, the tabular structure and purity of metal of which, with their other fine qualities, have ob- tained for them the name of THE PENANT OF FESTINIOG SLATE VEINS. Indeed, the Slates from these Veins have been several times tested, by the best judges, in every possible man- nerand finally reported—" Undeniably the best quality." The Rhossyd Veins of Slate continue through Wrys- gan, another Estate of vast extent—paying no Roplty whatever, arid held by Lease on a small yearly rent. This Lease has been purchased on advantageous terms, and as it immediately adjoins Rhossyd, can be worked with great facility and economy under the same local management. Some cargoes of saperior Slates from the Wrvsgan open Quarries, are now on the floors, and the works are in a fair state of progress,—the monthly produce of which even at present shew the profits that maybe expected to attend the Interests of the Company in connecting the Wrvsgan and Rhossyd Estates, and placing both under the same direction. CWM ORTHIN SILVER-LEAD MINES. Besides the above Slate Properties, a very promising Silver Lead Mine has been opened on a good Lode of Ore, on the North Eastern verge of one of the Mountains on Rhossyd. callcd Cwrn Ortt.in, which is included in the Rhossyd Lease. About Five Fathoms of Shallow Levels, k-e. have been driven, from which some Tons of Ore are now on bank, that produce Twentv-six Ounces of fine Silver per Ton, and seems to be of the same character as that of the celebrated Daren and Cwm Snnlog Mines in Cardiganshire GILVACH AND CWM CIPRWTH COPPER GILVACH AND C117?NI CIPRWTII COPPER The extent of these Mines, on the Lodes, is about Two Miles. Two Lodes have been proved in distant places along their bearings. On Ctdii Cipricih there is a water-wheel with pumps, Sc., and a shaft with several shallow drivings therefrom. The greatest depth about 18 fathoms, at the bottom of which there is a Lode of 8 feet wide, well mixed with Copper ore, and carrying a continuous rib of two feet, nearly full of solid ore. This Lode is very promising — as guzeny and kindly as any miner could wish, and likely to improve still further in depth. More powerful machi- nery must, however, ue erected, ana a change made in the water course to put this mine to work, to make those high returns promised by present indications. Gilvach is a great Mine. It has already produced several hundred tons of ore at shallow workings, and now shows, on small drivings at bottom of winze, or sub-shafts, a Lode of four feet wide quite solid. Some small shipments of Ore have been lately made from trials at these bottoms, and heaps of Ore from the same are now on the washing floors. The Adit leading to j the Winze-shafts is however, rather tortuous, as, indeed, are the Winzes themselves, and the water is strong at bottom: therefore, it is advisable to open a new Adit level to command the bottoms, which when done, will render available at once some thousand fa- thoms of rich Ore ground, and some hundred fathoms of a most productive lode. j But, besides all this, there is being worked a deep Adit Level some twelve or thirteen fathoms still lower down the Mountain, that has just cut one of the Southern Lodes parallel, and within a few fathoms of the former, which shows rich Copper Ore, and very promising. It needs only be remarked in confirmation of the fa- vourable opinion reported of these Mines, that the same Lodes have been worked on for several years and are now being worked on the North-Eastern side of the Monn- tain, in the celebrated Mines of Drws-y-Coed, &c., dis- tant only in horizontal range from Gilfach 990 fathoms, and at present producing immense quantities of Ore, re- ported one thousand tons monthly. Indeed, several ■ railway waggons are spen constantly in active service, j bearing their rich burdens to the well-arranged premises j of the Company at Carnarvon for shipping. BLAEN-Y-PENANT. J j One mile East of Gilvach, Copper, Silver-Lead, and Sulphur Mines, of great note. present themselves, and are now in the possession of the Company. They were opened by poor loen to an average depth of seven or eight fathoms, and Ores raised sufficient to equalise expenses but want of system, and machinery to com- mand the water, caused the works to be suspendpd. The indications all through, particularly offering in a dis- trict pregnant with metallic riches, are highly favourable, and warrant a recommendation to open and work these mines with due spirit. THE DENBIGH GREAT SLAB QUARRIES. These Quarries lie within three miles of a safe and commodious shipping harbour, near Conway. They are of immense extent, and quite inexhaustible. The qua- lity of the slabs has been rigorously tested and found proof—in delicate polish—free from chippiug ill the sawing, &c., and every way adapted for general and re- fined uses. The quarries are now open for immediate returns. The following calculations, on prices at present rates of Contracts, Hzc., will show the value of this important addition to the foregoing Mines and Quarries belonging to the Company. Contracts are now being made to raise, dress, square, &c., and carry from the quarry to the wharf, Slabs of any skantling, at 15 shillings per ton, all expenses in- cluded. Freight from wharf to Conway, and from thence by railway—say to London, including dues, &c., 7s. 6d. per ton. One quarryman and assistant, contracts, as above, for 40 tons of slabs per month. The prices of these slabs at market are from £ 2 10s. to £ 3 10s. per ten. Therefore, 12 contracts in one month will produce 480 tons of slabs in the mar- ket—say, in London, at an expense of f540 0 0 Let the superintendence, incidentals, roy- alties, ic. be 60 0 0 Making the gross cost to the Company of 480 tons of slabs £ 600 0 0 Which sell even at lowest price for. 1200 0 0 Therefore one month's profit on 12 such contracts, is £ 600 0 0 Or yearly profit on like work, or 12 con- tracts alone. L7200 3 0 And these contracts may be doubled, tribled, or quadrupled, Szc., in proportion to the market or sales In a word, this Company presents a source of invest- ment of positive worth," of real standard excellence, that courts the closest examination neither figurative nor doubtful, nothing uncertain, everything fair and open, and truthful, and such as must insure a high in- terest to the shareholders. A MONG THE MANY DISCOVERIES that cha- racterise the present age, none have contributed so inuc-h to the comfort and ease of the community, nor conferred such a boon upon suffering humanity, as the important discovery of BLAIR'S GOUT AND RHEU. MATIC PILLS, the efficacy of which has been tested by the approval and recommendation of many of the great. est men of our day. They are effective for gout and rheumatism in all its various forms, including sciatica, lumbago, pains in the head Iu>d face, frequently treatecr as toothache, &c. They require neither confinement nor attention of any kind, and invariably prevent the disease attacking the stomach, brain, or other vital part: in testimony of which Mr. Blake, Kingscliffe, North- amptonshire, writes — Twelve years ago I became afflicted with rheumatic gout, I procured the best advice possible, but without deriving benefit; and the doctors recommended me to go to the Stamford Infirmary, where I continued twelve weeks, and left it without obtaining any benefit, and all my hope of relief had vanished. This hopeless state of things continued until a friend advised me to try B'air'i Pills. I then lost no time in sending to Mr. Mortlock, of Stamford, for a box and by the time I had taken that quantity I got rid of one crutch. I then sent for another box, which enabled me to throwaway the other and thank God I have never since had such an attack. I am much exposed to cold; but whenever I feel symp- toms of atlack, I have recourse to the pills with univer- sal success. I recommended the pills to a gentleman. who resides in this neighbourhood, ana lie has derived the most essential relief therefrom, and is now never without them." I ought to say that I had been suffering from a Liver and Stomach complaint of long standing, which during the last two years got so much worse, that every one con- sidered my condition as hopeless.
