RECRUITING MEETINGS.
RECRUITING MEETINGS. Local officers of the Central Commit- tee for Patriotic Organisations are now engaged in a great effort to arrange a ser- ies of meetings throughout Radnorshire on August 4th, the date of the anniver- sary of the declaration of war. This step is being taken at the request of the Prime Minister, who has drafted the resolution which will be submitted. The Central Committee, which has the great work of organisation in hand, has already receiy ed a most encouraging response to thel1 suggestion from all parts of the country and from the colonies, for, this is to be an Empire celebration, and not merely British. Obviously, the work in Radnor- shire will present many difficulties, but the experience gained by the local com- mittee is so extensive that no hesitation whatever need be entertained about the meetings being carried to a successful issue. The co-operation of all is, how- ever, needed, and all, who can offer their services as speakers, or who can assist in securing the services of suitable speakers, are asked to communicate with *the local secretary, Mr J. Luther Greenway, of Greenway Manor. The well-organised meetings, under the auspices of the Par- liamentary Recruiting Committee, in Breconshire were attended by good crowds, and the eloquent and stirring appeals of influential speakers must have had good effect. The real results of such meetings are never apparent immediate- ly, but, at the very least, they cannot fail to enlist a large number of voluntary re- cruiting officers whose appeals will spread over a wide area, and penetrate the re- motest corners of rural Breconshire. There is no question that the county- which has certainly sent a full quota to the forces already, but many more must be sent-has done well in the organisa- tion of recruiting meetings, and, as Mr I
