Special attention is drawn to the colours, which for brilliancy, depth of i°,?,e „a munificent appearance, are quite perfection, Every yard of the genuine bears the name Louis," and toe wear of every yard, from the cheapest quality to the best, guaranteed. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, At the request of an influential deputation of ratepayers of our Ward I consented te be nominated as one of your representatives at the Town Council. Having beeu actively ENGAGED in business in the Ward for the past 17 years, I feei that I have some knowledge of its requirements; and should you do me the honour of returning me, I will endeavour to faithfully represent you, and do all I can to ensure efficiency in the work of the Corporation, and economy in the expenditure of your money. I am strongly opposed to the threatened divertion of Oraddock Wells' Charity, and will use all my influence to secure the application of that fund towards "the educating and bringing up soe many poor boys and girls of the towne ot Cardiffe aforesaid at school as shall be named yearly and from time to time,' as I consider that a jadicious system cf scholarships at approved intermediate schools and apprenticeship endowments confined to children educated in the public elementary schools of Cardiff, would be consistent.both with the letter and the spirit of Crad- dock Wells' bequest. 1 am, ladies and gentlemen, Yours faithfully, SAMUEL HERN. 72. This company was formed to purchase the patents for the following countries: Great Britain, France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Cuba, Spain, Belgium, Hungary, Russia, and Italy. It has also the nght to acquire the Concessions or Patents for most other countries excepting the United States and Canada Accompanying this Prospectus is a general Report on the Chambers Brick Machine, which, together with all documents, will be sent en application to any address. 1 IS most important invention can be seen daily at work at the American Exhibition, from 4 to 3.30 p.m., until the close of the Exhibition, October 31st, 1587. The p licy of this the parent company will be, as far as practicable, to farm out various countries and districts, receiving fore-ich contrac, cash* and shares, which will serve to make dividends for the shareholders of the parent company. The cash will be distributed as a cash dividend, and the shares, as soon as practic- able, will be distributed or held by the company, as the shareholders may direct. From the great value of the invention, the whole of the countries covered by Patents ought to be sold within a year, and the cash received should be suffi- cient to give to the Shareholders large cash dividends, and an interest in the Shares of all the Sub-Companies. The Directors mIY. in certain districts, find it ad- vantageous to form a sub-company, which will purchase clay lands NI d set up rival brickyards, thereby realising for the shareholders greater profits than by sale or lease of pa, ezits. Reliable statistics show that in the United States the total value of the annual brick product of that country is greater than auy other manufactured product, even surpassing that of cotton and iron. This the Parent Company will have no expenses beyond offices, rent, printing, advertising, legal and salaries and travelling expenses incidental to the for- mation of Sub-CotflP«nies, and the usual expenses incidental to administration, and directors' fees in London, so that practically all net receipts from sales to Sub-Companies will remain intact for dividends. The Vendor has fixed the price at P-140,000 in shares or cash, at the option of the Directors, stipulating for the right to take one-third in fnlly-paid shares. As an evidence of what the Parent Company may expect to realise from other countries by the sale of the Patents, that for the State of New York alone HAS been sold for over £ 20,000. The only contracts entered into are one lated the 21st day of July, 1387, between Philip S. Justice, as attorney for Messrs Chambers Brothers aud Co' of Philadelphia, U.S.A., and Edward MrMurdo "and another dated 20,11 dav of Octob-r, 1887 between Edward McMurdo and Charles Eo Green as trustees for and on behalf of the Chambers Brick Machine, Limited, and another dated 21st day of October, 1887, between the Chambers Brick Machine, Limited, and S. Hedges, Esq., by which the Chambers bri:k machine is to "e used by the Conces- sionaire, who holds the exclusive right to manufacture bricks in the Transvaal. October 2I«D, 1887. NOTE.-lininglately upon allotment a seven days' notice will be given to the shareholders to meet, at which time four additional directors will be chosen, and the majority of shareholders shall then- decide whether the sub-company for England shall sell or license the use of machines, or whether such company shall attempt to make a monopoly of brick-making in England. 7141 CARDIFF, PENARTH, AND BARRY JUNCTION RAILWAY'S COMPANY.
