IT is the intention of the Promoters to apply to Parlia- JL ment, during the ensuing Sessi^ on, for an Act to authorize the construction of a Line of Railway from near Gaerwen Station, on the Chester and Holyhead Railway, to Amlwch, a Seaport on the north coast of the County. This Line will accommodate the towns of Llangefni and Llanerchymedd, and develope the vast re- sources of Central Anglesey. The importance of ellecting this communication through the richest portion of the Island, both as regards its minerals and agricultural produce, has long been desired, and fully recogftized. From Surveys and Sections already made, the proposed Line presents no engineering difficul- ties; the total length will not exceed 18 miles, and the entire cost of its construction, including Land and Sta- tions, is computed, at the utmost, at 97,000 per mHe. The absence of all opposition on the part of the Landed Proprietors, through whose property the intended Line is to pass, is of vital importance to a scheme of this nature, 113 the usual heavy preliminary and Parliamentary ex- penses, so frequently ruinous to other projects, will in this case be avoided. The whole oi the Land, with tri- fling exceptions, has been promised at a fair agricultural price, and, in many instances, the amount thereof (and in some cases more) will bo taken out in Shares. The Line will commence by a Junction at the Gael" wenStation, on the Chester and Holyhead Railway, and skirt the Benv Coal Fields, thence on to Llangefni, the chief Fair and Market-town in the county from whence, by taking aslightly circuitous route, it will embrace Bod- fford and the adjacent fine agriculture district, the heavy traffic of which, at great expense, delay, and inconve- nience, has hitherto been sent to the Ty Croes and Bod- organ Stations on the Chester and Holyhead Railway. The Line will then proceed through a district hitherto undeveloped, but possesing extensive and superior beds of clay for making Draining Tiles and Bricks, on to Llanerchymedd, (from whence an easy and cheap Branch Line can eventually be made to the Valley), thence through the centre of the richest agricultural district in Anglesey, passing close to the famous Copper Mines at Parya Mountain, on to Amlwch. The present sources of traffic in Cattle, Corn, Coals and Materials, as weU as Passengers, are already very irreat, and these will be largely augmented by the in- creased facilities of transmission which this Line will give. The Amlwch Terminus will be within a mile and a half of Bull Bay, which is capable of being converted into one of the most charming Wateriug-places m North Wales, commanding as it does a marmepr^ct un- rivalled in its extent and magnificence. The fun devel. opment of this delightful summer retreat, which has already been energetically commenced, as well as the contiguity of Cemaes Bay, will bring a large passenger traffic to the proposed Lme. The n- nual consumption of Coals for the Mines and Smeltmg Vi orks, in Amlwch alone, is upwards of 30,000 tons; and frequently, owing to the "ncertainty of weather, the Works have been subject to a delay of seven weeks in getting their supply. It is confidently expected that the whole of this Traffie, lid weU as Coals. Lune, and general Merchandise for the supply of the district, will be brought by the proposed Line, as it will then be supplied with regularity, at equally low rates as by sea. Owing to the sudden fluctuations in the prices of Ore and Metals in the various Markets, the ready means of transit afforded by this Railway must, oi necessity, be bad reconr80 to. Raihva'8 are now constructed ai a much lev Cost than formerly, and every ec.mo.vn^ny ina'le Lme h^ paid a fair Dividend on the outlay.
