The following are extracts from the Report The Board of Directors have more than ordinary satisfaction in meeting their constituents on this oc- casion, as they have it in their power not only to report that the past year has been the most successful since the company commenced business in 1825, but that the five years completed at loth November last exhibited a greater measure of success thau any pre- viotis (Iiiitiqueiinial period. The calculations are far advanced' and a Spccial Commitee has been appointed to examine the securities and to bring up a report on the whole matter, after a thorough investigation of Company's assets and liabilities. The Report having been unanimously approved of, the Chairman congratulated the meeting on the satis- factory position of the Company's business, and stated that the adjourned meeting to receive the report on the Division of Profits will be held towards the end of April. ILATEST INTELLIGEIVCE. ELECTIUC TELEGRAPH DESPATCHES. rr i-i:s VT .A.R- I PEACE CONFERENCES. The I Times' Paris correspondent vyri fe5, that the absence of any allusion in the Emperor's Speech, to the definitive signing of the Plenipotentiaries of Peace, might be considered atisfactovy, as this had not been done. All that can Le safely said of Tuesday's Conference, is, that its proceedings were said to be of a more satisfactory nature than the previous one, and that England and France conti- nue united more closely, if possible, than before. From that, it may be fairly inferred that the Russian Plenipotentiaries began to see all hope of disuniting them, vanish, and are disposed to make concessions on vital points, hitherto contested. THE CRIMEA. CESSATION OF HOSTILITIES. i Marshal Pelissier has informed the Minister of War tlia' resolution passed by the Plenipoten- tiaries on the 25th of February last, relative to the armistice, which is to extend to the 31st of March, was known in the Crimea on the 28th of Feb. On the 29th, at a conference held at the Traktir-bridge, between the Chiefs of the Staff of the Allied armies and General Tutchimoff. delegated by the Com- mander-in chief of the Russian army, it was decided that there should be a complete suspension of hosti- lities. RUSSIAN SHIPS OF WAR IN THE BALTIC. A despatch from Hamburg bearing date the 5th instant, mentions that two Russian ships war, ac- companied by three gun- boats had sailed out of Sweaborg after the breaking up of the ice, and had appeared in the Baltic. THE FLYING SQUADRON IN THE BALTIC. Her Majesty's ship Imperieuse, 51, Captain H. B. Watson, C. B commanding the a d vance squadron of 'í\'ii?e'tr,liK\Ií on the 26th ult., at midnight, having made Kiel At the ?nd ofthe fourth d,?y. A fog delayed her twelve hours off' Anhalt in the Cattegat. Her Majesty's ships Pylades and Falcon passed her on the morning of the :29th, on their way to Elsinore. The Imperieuse left Kiel for Faro on the morning of the 2d inst. PREPARATIONS IN THE BALTIC. The contracts for supplies making in the Baltic ports by English agents far exceed what was done last year. It is concluded that the total strength of the English squadron will be nearly double that of 1850. UNEASINESS REGARDING THE CONGRESS. Some uneasiness is manifested at Berlin as to the result of the Paris Congress. It is asserted that the presidents of the provinces on the Rhine and on the Russian frontier have been summoned to Berlin to decide on the measures to be taken should war ap- proach the Prussian boundaries., TURKEY AND ITS DIFFICULTIES. The last accounts from Turkey represent things as very threatening there. There can be no doubt that the Allies will have to occupy Turkey in force, to prevent a civil war between the enfranchised Christians and the Mahometans. The merchants of Constantinople have presented an address to the Allied Ambssadors to beg them to prevent the Porte making another issue of paper money as threa- tened. THE QUESTION OF PRECEDENCIt. There has been a slight question of precedence between Lords Clarendon and Cowley. It turned on the point of Lord Cowley being her Majesty's personal representative, and therefore entitled to precedence at Court or in society. The matter had nothing to do with the Congress, where Lord Cla- rendon's position was undoubted.
