My DEAR FRIENDS,— Although we are probably still at some distance from a dissolution of Parliament, I think it right (after all that has been said and written on the subject) to inform you that it is not my intention to offer myself for Re-election, as I find that in the conflict of private employments and occupations, and the public duties of a Member of Parliament, either one or other must suffer. I have to offer to all of you my warmest thanks for the great kindness which you have shown towards me, and the implicit confidence which you have placed in me (as your representative) for the last eleven years. I shall ever proudly cherish this remembrance, and I know you will believe me when I say that during those eleven years I have always endeavoured to forward those measures which I conscientiously believed wera best calculated to conduce to the good of the whole people of this Kingdom. Again, thanking you from my heart, and with best wishes for your future welfare, I remain, my dear friends, Yours very faithfully and obliged, EDWARD LEWIS PRYSE. Army and Navy Club, June 16th. K 52
