A-- I CAMBRIA PERMANENT MONEY SOCIETY. I The quarterly meeting was held at the Offices, Arcade Chambers, Goat-etreet lat week. The report, presented by the secretary, Mr. H. F. Hood, showed that this society is j n a. sound position. The business done during the past quarter has enabled thft comnuttsee <0 declare a divi- dend and aki a, bonus to members wnose books are paid to date. There are no out- standing liabilities, as every matured chhre has been paid including those which leil due la-st. and the Society has. substantial cash reserves laid by. There Is 110 dJubt the successful career of this society is largely due to the straightfor- ward way in which business is done, the full amount of the shares is advanced in cash, and the interest to be paid is agreed and fixed when the loan is granted, and 1? paid witli the amount lent by weekly instalments. There is no otiier Society in Swansea which conducts its business on these lines. Ben Evans and Cv., Ltd., Swansea, inti- mab? that the dividend warrants in pay- ment of an interim dividend at the rate oi 5 per cent. per annum on their ordi- nary shares due October 1st, 1S15, have been posted.

I A»tt1F0RB'S BILLI I
I A»tt1F0RB'S BILL — W Recant Rsmarks Resented at Gwmamman. I At the Cwtnamman Council o-n. Wednes- I day night, Rev. J. Edryd Jones presiding, there were references to remarks passed at the recent meeting of the neighbouring council of Ammanford, whereby it was i sought to prove t<.it the latter body had taken the proper course in tL0 promotion of a Bill in Parliament for sewerage and other schemes by stating chat th? Cwm- amman Council had been advised by the Local Government Board to do likewise. It is not fair for Ammanford to make us scapegoats," protested Mr. Arthur Williams, and the Chairman concurred. The Clerk, at the instigation of the £ ofids and Health Commutee, read ex- tracts from the Local Government Board's report on the Ammanford Bill to the eif?ct that the Ammanford Council could have obtained the n?ce?sary powr5:0 I carry o'?t the schemes contemplated with- out coming to Parliament. ?, You go 1 through the whole report, and you will Rnd that the Local Government Board 00- cv nearly Lhe whole of the Ammanford Council Bill," added the Clerk. Mr. Arthur Williams eaid it was men- tioned plainly in the meeting at Amman- ford th&t they had approached the Loc-il Government Board, and that the latter I told them definitely they would have to cake the same course as Ammanford h.d already done. I Clprk: In &o far as increasing our bor- i r??.-i?? ?w-crs gJ(', we eh?ll, I agree have to promote a Bill m Pualiam;>n^. Eimph for that purpose, but there is a very wide difference between that and including the ocntemplntecl sc-hem?s m ,he Bill, a mode of -Lzcr?Qdlurp- which courts opposition, whereas the other, so far as I can ?ee, does not. On the other hand Ammanford had already got a Bill in connection with the waterworks, and would thus be in a position to have that extended by Pro- I visional Order. Mr. Arthur Williams: In that cass it j", I proof positive that they expended money ) which was unnecessary. (Laughter), I The Clerk assented. ¡ The Chairman: It is no question for usji what Ammanford did. q.p' Mr. Arthur Williams: But it. is not. f?ir for them to drag us info it, and adver- tise us throughout the land. The Chairman a6retc, that the remarks made might give a wrong impression of their position. Since the Cwmamman Cou!ld had no Bill already they had to ?omc to Parliament, but it wC1ld be purely for a money Bill. llr. Arthur Williams: So wo took tha I right course by consulting the Local Gov- 1 ernment Board in the first instance?
