This joint oommittee resolved that six'-sevenths of the penny rate contributed to Public Library and Deffct Lrancis Art Gallery purposes be paid to the Public Library Committee, and one-seventh to tho Art and Crafts Committee, and that the pro- coeds of tho |d. rate be devoted to the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, as heretofore. The director of the National Gal- lery was quite agreeable to this course. The committee concurred. ilio coniiii-? Itteo coneurre d Famous Worcester China Offered. Ho thought there should be a special day of opening, and that the Mayor and CQrporation should be asked to attend. I BUILDING TRADES UNEMPLOYMENT. I I At a meeting of the Swansea Building Trade Federation the followinrr resolution was unanimously adopted" We, the members of the Swansea Building Trades, emphatically Oerv the, statement of "T ell- known Swansea Builder: published in the 'Cambria Daily Leader3 of Wednesday: last. the 24th inst., to the effect that there i6 a scarcity of workmen in the building I trade, there being at the present time men unemployed in all branches, which fact can be verified upon reference to tho proper channel, viz., the local Labour Exchange. Wo also wish to challenge any and every statement that conditions are; r better upon Corporation, work than upon private builders' work, it being the unani- mous opinion of this Federation that such statements are a grave reflection upon the integrity of the workmen, and are pro- moted ostensibly with the object of creating the opinion that it would be more economical to give the work to 'Well- known Swansea Builder than for the Corporation to do it by direct administra- tion."
