The Selling Steeple- chase saw Kolo start favourite, but found One too good for him in Confidence. I Formby, Thursday.—In every sense of the word, the opening day's proceedings of the great coursing carnival, the VTatcrloo Cup, was a great success, and everything pointed to the intermediate stage being equally as interesting from every point of view. The crowd did not reach the dimension of the previous day, but nevertheless another strong company assembled at Lydiate, where the second day's running ia carried through. The weather was fine, though the outlook was not altogether promising. There was nothing of any note to mention about the sixteen dogs left in the all-im- portant event, all being reported thor- oughly fit, and there was no change in the overnight quotations, Tide Tide and Distin- gue being the leading favourites. Shortly after the crowd moved to Oarr Meadows, the sun broke through, and the conditions left nothing to be desired. Third Round. Competition beat Gay Swell. Betting: 2 to 1 ort Gay Swell.
