TO THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBERS OF THE B.U.D.C. Gentlemen, For feat. that some of you think that my ietters are not attracting the eye of the ratepayers, I may point out that after my last chapter "MynacfcV" Jetter was the talk of the town, there- fore you must be on the alert and do something worthy as representatives of the ratepayers. Besides endeavouring to stir you op with your byelaws, etc I hope also to yon»* fiHnntion in mr=< *■ vrMoh will benefic i,lic, ratepayers in geuurnl. I was very pleased to observe in the local paper that your Council bad accep- ted the offer of the Royal Magnets for the supplying of a town band for next season, at the sftmo fee as last year --CIO. May I suggest that your Council should approach the Royal Magnets now to ascertain whether they would agree to give an open-air concert in the month of August, the proceeds of which would go towards advertising the town. The more visitors that come here the better it will be for the Royal Magnets. Next season will be their twenty-first consecutive season at Bar. mouth, and it would be a grand thing if tboy would acknowledge same by giving a concert towards advertising the town. It was very encouraging to read that your Council had a balance of £ 1,700 in your favour at the bank. Well, you must have economised somewhere, be- sides the lighting question. If the rates are to remain as they are at present, you must have a good commencing balance at the bank when yon make the rates next year, as you will have to face the question of the number of empty houses which will be vacant in May next. • Ynor Council have decided to invite your Surveyor (Mr Parry) to visit the town at an early date to discuss with you about elaborate road widening schemes on the Llanaber Road, so as to present a scheme to the Road Board. Do you honestly believe that now is the proper time to talk about big schemes. It would be interesting to know what has become of the plans already pre- pared by a private architect at a cost of twenty guineas. Has your Council paid that sum, or is it still in dispute ? You shoald k-t. the ratepayers know all these iacts. Is it not time for you to con- sider the advisability of doing some- thing to protect the sea erosion at this end of the Marine Parade instead of talking about road improvements. During iho last few years you have spent a considerable time discussing road schemes, but nothing has yet been done. Surely you should endeavour to geb a grant or something for sea erosion in preference to road widening. Think this matter over judiciously before, deciding one way or the other As your Council have met together lately I don't expect that these matters will be seen to before you meet, again. In case that some of you are not aware of the byelaws relating to pigstyes, etc., I will insert your own byplaws on these matters before long. The or y of stop- ping bard working people from keeping one or two pigs, far away from public paths and houses is lieenly resented, while a L-core or more, are being allowed within a few yards of a public road. "What would you do, gentlemen, if you one or two ratepayers asked your permission to keep one or two pigs a,t Carre? Gribin (lately the Council's property). Could you honestly refuse such an application ? MYNACH. I
