Dear Sir, .• Allow me a small space in your paper to draw attention to the fact that a good number of towns and villages in North Wales are in conununicatfon with the Welsh Y.M.C.A. Council regarding hostels and huts. Carnarvon and Aberystwyth have decided to build magnificent Y.M.C. A. Hostels as War Memorials. Mr Garner (a well known Y.M. worker) has been appointed organising Secretary for North Wales. He will probably reside at Wrexham where a general movement is already en foot, The National Council has budgeted £ 100,000 for Wales and claims have already been received from Piestatyo, Gellifor, Holy- well, Mold, Llandinam, Penffordd, Llanfyllin, Festiniog, Bala and Ruthin. Edeyrnion has not in the past been guilty of inertia, surely there is need in the villages if not in the town of Corwen, for some instit- ution of this nature. Some portion of the burden must be borne locally but the Y.M C.A. Council would be responsible for the upkeep and general management. We certainly havi much to gain by taking advantage of what opportunities we may have in this direction. I Yours faithfully, R. IDRIS WILLIAMS.
I v To the Editor of the "…
I v To the Editor of the Ad-tain." Berwyu Street, Carrog, February 10tb, 1919. Dear Sir, Kindly find space for the following words in your esteemed papef, re the decision of the Corwen Parish Council to apply to the G.W.R. Co., asking them to allow the 9.28 a.m. train, from Corwen to be stopped at Carrog and Glyndyfrdwy, stations in future, on Llangollen market days. I wish to thank them for their much needed move in the matter, and as one of many that have felt the iriconveni s-ice of of the inadequate train service, to and from Corwen, during the period of the war (of course it was unavoidable during that time), but now whea different towns are bestirring themselves to meet the needs of the future, I would draw the, Parish Council's attention to the desirability of applying to the G W.R. Co. for the re-running of the Sunday train service, which was of great benefit to the working man of 'siieli places as Llangoitan, Glyndyfrdwy, Carrog, ancLOorwen. Itbeiug the only means for those of them that are working in indus- tries away from home, to see their homes and families at a week end. As it is now they have to remain until the Mondav morning be- fore being able to return to their places of em- ployment, and thereby meaning the loss of a day's work. I sincerely believe that it is now time for the Sunday train service blockade, along the Llangollen and Corwen lice, should now be raised. lours truly, I THOS. J. JONES (Corwenite)
