COAL DUTIES. As petitions are pouring into the Hcuses of Parliament from ail parts of the kingdom, on fill. subject, it may not be uninteresting to givl. some idea of the question at issue. Coals brought or carried coastwise into the port of London, pay a duty of 7s. 6d. per tOil. or 9s. 4d the Chaldron, Winchester measure. tnto any other port in England, 4s. per ton, cr 6s. per chaldron. The Reverend Mr. Rodher read the Report, which slated that grants had been made in the last year in 46 cases, for the Enlargement of Places of Worship, amounting to 3.489[.. and by the aid of that sum an increase of Church accommodation was provided for 12,797 persons^ the number of free sittings being 11,114 The Society had already been instru- mental in providing increased accommodation for 80,526 persons, of which numher the free Sittings amounted to 60,513. The Report, which was received with considerable applause, was ordered to be printed and circulated. Four other valuable horses, stolen hy Tho mas and William, have also been found 10 he possession of another hrulher,a respectable farrper, near Enfield Chase; but he having in- stantly given thetn ul), and there being no reason to believe that he knew them to be stolen, he has been admitted to bail in a large amount for his future appearance, should it be necessary.— The following are the cases gone into on the pre sent occasion 1—Mr. John Brown, maltster, of Yoxhall, Staffordshire, had a valuable brown mare stolen from his premises on the 25 h of "September last and on the 7tb of the present month it was foundAn the possession of Anne Poyser, at the. house of her husband, Thomas, at Chingford, Essex. "f February last. This mitre was sold at Aldridge's Repository, on the 26ih April, by Atiop Poyser, accompanied by Henry, to Mr. Richards, of the Swau livery stables, Oxford- sl red; from" brim it passed through several h^uds, until it,wa-; purchased by GevierakSir W. Luinley, and it was found in his possession at Southamiiion. Mr. Jonathao Mallet, of Fresh- field, Staffordshire, had a valuable black blood mare stolen from a close near his house on the night of the 12'h June laqf and, thoijgh he ad- vertised it, offering a reward for its recovery, he never heard of it again. until since the appreheu siofl of the prisoners, when it was found in the possession of Mr. Richards, of the Swaa livery. stables, Oxford street, who bad purchased ir of the prisoner, Anne Poyser, for thirty guineaq.- She took it to his stables, accompanied by Henry Poyser, artdgtwe her address at Chingford, at the same time representing that her husband was confined to his bed with a broken leg. Mr. Sa- muel Lawley, of Needwood Forest, had dark chetnut mare and a grey colt stolen from him oil the 4th of July, 18211 and the grey colt was found in the possessioo of Anoe Poyser, at Ciiiiigftird, at the time of her apprehension. Tbe prisoners were both remanded for further examination on Saturday next. when, it is said, many other similar charges will be preferred against them.
