Abergele District Council.
Abergele District Council. The monthly meeting of the Abergele and Pen- sarn Urban District Council was held at the Council Chamber, on Monday evening, Mr. E. Williams, J.P., in the chair. Other members pre. sent were Messrs R. Roberts, Isaac Roberts, John Edwards (Pensarn). W. Hnmphreys-Jones, J. Pierce, Thomas Davies, Elias Evans, H. E. Thomas, and W. J. Evans; with the Clerk (Mr. Crabbe), the Deputy Clerlj (Mr. D. Thomas), and the Sur- veyor (Mr. M. R. Jones). A SAFE! The Council is becoming so abnormally rich, that it was decided to send the Chairman and Mr. W. Humphreys-Jones by a special trip to Liver- pool for the purpose of purchasing a new iron safe. TOWYN ROAD AGAIN. The Clerk read a letter which had been before the Streets and Works Committee from Mr. Charles Grimsley, Clerk to the St. Asaph Rural District Council, asking the Abergele Council to take steps to remedy the flooding evil of Towyn-road, alleged to be caused by the overflowing of the ditches within the urban area of Abergele. Answering Mr. J. Pierce, the Surveyor said that the allegation in Mr. Grimsley's letter was abso- lutely incorrect. The flooding was certainly not caused as the result of any negligence on the part of the Council. The matter then dropped. LAUGH AND GROW FAT. On the motion of Mr. H. E. Thomas, seconded by Mr. W. J. Evans, permission was given to Mr. E. Howard-Hugh to bring a troupe of pierotts to Abergele during the summer, with sole right to perform on the Promenade, with a proviso that the Llanddulas Band be allowed to play selections when and where they liked in the district. INTEREST ON LOAN. On the motion of Mr. W. Humphreys-Jones, sec- onded by Mr. W. J. Evans, it was formally decided to contribute, jointly with the Abergele Parish Council, the sum of £ 220 being the principal and interest on a loan required for the purpose of widening the entrance with the Abergele cemetery. THANKS. A letter of thanks was read from the Abergele and Pensarn Nursing Association for the use of the Council Chamber, to hold their meetings during the year. SF-AR I- HLIGHT.
