Within a few micutes of the passing of Sunday last, the death occurred somewhat suddenly of Mrs J G Gratton, of Foryd Fawr, a highly- esteemed member of the farming community. She had not enjoyed good health since the beginning of August last, but, attended by Dr. E Hughes Jones, she had latterly shown con- siderable improvement. Unfortunately, a relapse set in on Sunday, and she passed away within twenty-four hours. She was 70 years of age, and is survived by six sons and one daughter, all of whom are settled in this neighbourhood. Deceased was a daughter of the late Mr Thos Roberts Higher Bprse, Wrexham, and a sister of the late' Mr Rnbt Roberts, Dyserth Hall, and of the late Mr Thos Roberts. Lleweni, near Denbigh, who died shortly after proving his claim to a share in the great Jones fortune which excited so much attention a year or two ago, and in which she was. of course, also interested. Like her husband, the late Mr John Griffith Gratton, who was one of the best authorities of his day on farming matters, she took a keen practical interest in farming. In fact, no farm in these parts enjoys a greatcr reputation than Foryd Fawr, which is especially well known for the fine sheep it has reared. Mr« Gratton- who had lived on toe farm for over thirtv vear« survived her husband almost exactly eleven Years'.
