THE LLYSFAEN COUNTY COUNCILLOR'S LATEST DISTINCTION.—The Rev J. ANOTHER PREHISTORIC RELIC FROM RHIW- LEDEN.—At the April Monthly Meeting of the Liverpool Geological Association, Mr Robert Storey exhibited a beautifully-made linear-shaped spear-head of bronze, taken from cave debris at Rhiwleden. The situation of this interesting find leads to the hope that further relics of prehistoric man may yet be found in the rock hollows of the picturesque headlead. It will be remembered that some months ago there was chronicled in The Weekly Aevis the exhibition of Rhiwleden relics of prehistoric cave-animals. A GRATIFYING ANNOUNCEMENT.—The friends of the late Mr James Niven, commercial traveller, Colwyn Bay, and a member of the Madog Lodge of Freemasons, No 1509, will be glad to under- stand that his son, James Bruce Niven, has been elected on the first application to be admitted to the Roya: Masonic Institution for boys. He was the sixth elected out of twenty candidates. Great credit is due to Mr J. G. Tuxford, P.M., and Mr Albert Bromwich, W.M., for the strenuous efforts they made in carrying out this good work so successfully. He is the first child admitted into the institution of a member of the Madoc Lodge. THE WELSH WESLEYAN QUARTERLY MEETING. —The Conway Circuit Welsh Wesleyan Quarterly Meeting was held at Colwvn Bay. The Rev William Evans (Monwyson), now second minister (stationed at Llandudno), was heartily invited to undertake, for the second year in the Circuit, the Superintendence(but with residence at Llandudno), the Rev Mon Hughes, of Bangor, to be second minister, and resident at Conway. Mr Joseph Ellis was unanimously recommended as a candi- date for the ministry, A letter of sympathy was sent to Mrs Richards (widow of the Rev D. Richards, of Carnarvon) in her great sorrow and loss. THE ENGLISH BAPTIST CHAPEL SorREE.A grand concert was held at the English Baptist Chapel, Colwyn Bay, on Wednesday evening, April 13th, when the chair was occupied by Mr W. O. Hug-hes, National Bank of Wales, sup- ported by the Rev W. Hughes, F.R.G.S. The Chairman, after making; a few well-chosen re- marks, called upon Messrs Ward and Brackstone to open the programme with a pianoforte duett. Mr T. Evans Hughes having next rendered "The Sailor's Grave" (Sullivan), most pathetically, the chairman next called upon Mrs D. J. Davies (Flint), to render Sullivan's Beloved Again," and in this, her debut at Colwyn Bay, she scored a success, having to respond to an encore, with "Clychau Aberdovey," which was also much ap- preciated. We knew that a treat was in store when we saw Telynor Seiriol's name on the pro- gramme, and our expectations were fully satisfied when we heard the sweet and rich rendering on the harp,—of the Welsh air Sweet Richard," and iii response to an encore the lively "March of the men of Harlech." Mr Brack- stone gave a fine rendering of "The Landing of the Pilgrim Fathers." The violin solo, Birthday Schoilishe," bv Master Percy Thomas, was very well played. Mr T. Evans Hughes sang Picolominis' "Eternal Rest," Herr Loetschert presiding-at the pianoforte, and Mr. R. Brackstone at the organ,-the effect was charm- ing. The first part of the programme wound up with a spirited pianoforte solo by Herr Loetschert. The second part was opened by Telvnores Seiriol with a harp solo, "Pen Rhaw," and this was warmly applauded. Mrs D. J. Davies again favoured the audience, this time with The Gift (Thomas), and fairly captivated them. A violin solo, "Une Fete a Trianon," by Master Percy Thomas received well-merited applause. Mr T. Evans Hughes gave a sweet rendering of Maid of Athens." Mrs D. J. Davies rendered Gyda'r Wawr in a truly artistic style. Telynor Seiriol contributed another harp solo to the programme Mr T. Evans sang" Good Night, Beloved" (Balfe), after which the Chairman proposed, and Mr Showell seconded, a hearty vote of thanks to all who took part in the concert. The Rev W. Hughes, F.R.G.S. proposed, and Mr Brackstone seconded, a vote of thanks to the chairman. Herr Loetschert and Mr R.
