FRIDAY, JUSE 30, 1876. < The tnail of prisoners at the Glamorganshire Quarter Sessions, held at Cardiff, were continued yesterday. Mr R. Q. Jones, the chairman, W" occupied all day in hearing a charge of indecent I assault preferred by a yoting woman named Margaret BurSeld against Edwin Luck (son of Mr Lock, builder, Carditl), and Taouiaa Phillips, a married man, also residing in Cardiff. The offence was alleged to have been committed on the Crwys road, near Cardiii, on the 31st May. The jury failed to agree upon a verdict, and were dis- charged, aud the prisoners weie admitted to bail until this morning. Yesterday was Degree Day at Limpeter Col- lege. After degrees had been conferred, there was a luncheon, at which the Dean made some stroDg remarks with reference to the correspond dence which is going on in the public prints as to the Bishop of St David's. He defended the Bishop, and refuseJ to associate the health of the. Clergy with that of the Bishop, as he did not con- sider that some of them were fit to be EO associa- ted. A shocking accident is reported from Knighton. Mr W. S. Stevens, farmer, of Lyonshall, was driving out of the town, accompanied by a nephew and niece. Suddenly the pole of the carriage broke, and the tiors-us were frightened. They dashed off at a rapid speed, and after going a short distance the carriage was overturned. Mr Stevens was precipitated on to some iron railings, and was killed instantly. The nephew and niece were also seriously injured. Up to last night there had been no deaths in consequence of the serious colliery explosion in No. 22 Pit, Ebbw Vale. Seven men were injured, and some of them were so seriously burnt that but faint hopes are entertained of their recovery. Operation* have not been suspended at the col- liery. The annual meeting of the Ebbw Vale Steel, IttJti, 'and Coal Company was held yesterday at Manchester. The Chairman (Mr Alderman Curtis) gave a lucid statement of the position and pros- pects of the company, and Mr Stretton afterwards proposed the appointment of a committee to at once confer with the directors as to the best means of streugtheoiug the board- of directors by the eleotion of gentle4nent conversant with the iron and coal trades, and also to consider as to the tuture management of the company. This was agreed to, aud the meeting was-adjourned for the reception of the committee's report. Yesterday the adjourned vestry meeting for dealing with the organist of St Mary's, Swansea* was held in the yard adjoining the church. The meeting, at times, was somewhat disorderly. Mjf Bath moved that the organist be not disminiclo on condition that he obeyed the church author- ities. To this an amendment was moved by Mir Player. "That the organist receive six month*' notice to leave." Up m a division, 101 voted foif dismissal, and 72 against.
