AUBERTIN, M.A.,LL.D., AND MADAME AUBERTIN. THE DUTIES of this SCHOOL were RESUMED JL on the 22nd JANUARY, 1872. English Instruction in all its branches. Mathematics, Latin, Greek, French, German, Italian, Drawing, and Music taught by experienced and competent Masters. Young gentlemen are prepared for the Cambridge and Oxford Local, the Civil Service, and Military Examina- tions, as well as for Matriculation at the London or other Universities. Young Ladies are prepared for the Cambridge Local Examinations. The great feature of this School is, that while a high and thorough English, Classical, and Mathematical training is afforded, the Foreign Modern Languages are taught grammatically, rapidly, and conversationally. The instruction is tested by the Cambridge Local Examinations. Several of M. Aubertin's pupils have passed every year successfully, many with honours. Several have also passed the preliminary Medical and Law Examinations. Private Lessons are given in French, German, and Italian, after five o'clock p.m. daily. A Class has been opened for Young Children upon very moderate terms. Prospectuses and terms on application. [6238 BRIDGrEND SCHOOL. HEAD MASTER—Mr. W. AUSTIN, 1st T.T, it t (Lond. Univer.) Assisted by two RESIDENT MASTERS. THE Head Master believes that a knowledge of _L Modern Languages forms an important part of a good education at the present time, considering the extensive Commercial and Engineering, &c., relations existing between this Country and the Continent, and consequently encourages that branch of study, which he is the more competent to do, having himself studied on the Continent. All necessary attention is given to Latin and Greek, without at the same time believing that a superficial knowledge of those languages constitutes a liberal education. Much attention is given to English Grammar, Parsing, Analysis, and Composition, History, Geography including Mapping, and Mathematics. During the past six years (which time the School has been con- ducted by the present Head Master) the Pupils have been very successful in the University Local Examina- tions, and in the Preliminary Examinations for the Medical and Legal Professions and Commercial pursuits. PULVERMACHER'S PATENT GALVANIC CHAIN-BANDS, BELTS, AND POCKET BATTERIES HAVE rendered Electricity perfectly self-applic- M t_ able, in a mild continuous form, and extremely efficacious, without shock or unpleasant sensation. They speeuily soothe agonizing pains, reanimate torpid limbs, revive the sluggish functions of life, and impart renewed energy and vitality to constitu- tions enfeebled by whatever causes. The daily increasing number of cures effected by PULVERMACHER'S MEDICO-GALVANIC SYbTEM: is so extensive and varied that it forcibly points to this invention as the embryo of a universal remedy. Amongst many others, the following TESTIMONY, signed by the elite of the Medical Faculty has been received: We the undersigned, have much pleasure in testify. ing that Mr. J. L. Pulvermacher's recent improvements in his Voltaic Batteries and Galvanic Appliances for Medical Purposes are of great importance to Scientific Medicine, and that he is entitled to the consideration and support of everyone disposed to further the advance- ment of real and useful progress. TESTIMONIALS FOLLOWING comprise the con. JL tinuation of a series of certificates published in rotation, and are but a small portion of a vast number published in a PAMPHLET containing besides various extracts from medical reports by great authorities and opinions of the medical press, likewise numerous extracts from many standard scientific works, viz., Dr. Pereira's "Mateira Medica," 4th edition Dr. Tanner's "Practice of Medicine," 8th edition and Dr. Handfield Jones on "Nervous and Functional Disorders." I have great pleasure in informing you that I have received great benefit from wearing the Com- bined Bands I purchased of you about two months ago, and I feel it my duty to put my case before the public. For four years I suffered very much from General Debility and Indigestion, so much so that I quite despaired of getting any better but, thank God, since I have worn your Galvanic Bands, I am quite another man in general health. I would recommend all suffering from the same, your wonderful invention. A. EADE. "J. L. Pulvermacher and Co., 168, Regent-street, W." PARALYSIS.—(Testimonial.) JL Prospect House, Leigh, Essex, Sept, 17th, 1871. "At the risk of being called empirical, I have thought it my duty to lay before you the following case, which can be verified by myself or the patient, and for the suffering humanity, trust you will pub- lish the same, Ernest Stebbing, son of a respectable tradesman of Romford, came to this village in- curable. I was called to see him, found him far ad- vanced as a Paralytic, very indistinct utterance, obliquity of vision, slight drawing of the mouth, in- ability to feed or dress himself, and in attempting to walk when assisted dragged one foot. On Sun- day, July 30th, 1871, first applied the Chain-Battery to Spine, and all medicines were discontinued, and the galvanic current administered daily, he rapidly improved. The times of operating were every other day, and now nearly a week without an application. He is HOW able to walk up and down our hills alone, and regarded as the wonder of the village. "W. SANKEY, M.D. "J. L. Pulvermacher and Co., 168, Regent- street, W." BRONCHITIS.—(Testimonial.) "5, Leopold-street, Highgate, Birmingham, September 8,1871. My mother purchased one of your Electric Chain- Bands some three months ago; since then she has had two smaller ones for Bronchitis. Pulvermacher and Co., 168, Regent-street, W." N E R V 0 U S- EXHAUSTION AND PAINS. (Testimonial.) 7, Cobham-place, Clarence-road, Clapton, September 15th, 1871. "Your past kindness and attention shown in my case, together with a desire to fulfil my promise, prompts me to drop you these few lines. You will be glad to hear that my entire nervous system is gradually improving my back feels very much stronger and more free from pain. A year ago, when trying to sit up just for half an hour, although pil- lowed and propped in every possible way, I used to fet into a most fearful state of pain and exhaustion. Tow I can sit up for some hours at a time with comparative use. This is a very marked improve- ment. 1 feel also stronger on my feet, can stand with a firmness I have not felt for years. I have walked across a room without help. I am thoroughly convinced by personal experience that there is a mighty power and good in your appliances. Indeed I feel the Bands are an untold comfort to me. Some of my friends are perfectly amazed at seeing me again down stairs, and to some extent getting about the house. Dr. Millar, whom I have been under for some years, on coming to see my mother was perfectly struck to see me out of bed and down stairs. He said What do you think has done you good Sir, I said, 'undoubtedly the per- severing use of Mr. Pulvermacher's Electric ap- pliances. Well,' he said,' I must say they have done a great thing for you, if it is only to get up and come down here.' I name this, sir, because it is a remark of my own doctor who, some months since, laughed at me for even thinking or putting any faith in such a remedy as yours. „ T T LAVINA JONES. J. L.
