The Paving Stone Quarry on a portion of Lot 2 is a first-class one, freely drained, and extends under several acres of Lot 1. Good Roads in every direction surround these Lots, and being situate near to a Railway Station, and on an easy Slope inclining from the Caerllwyn Ridge to a Public Highway runninar parallel with the River Sirhowy and the Lanarth Tram and Hailway, a first-rate medium is afforded for the Transit of Stone, Minerals and Produce. The number of Quarries in the District is limited, and the demand for First-class Stone, such as is pro- duced by the above mentioned Quarry, is vastly on the in- ciease, a large quantity being sent to London and elsewhere, and there used tor Paying purposes. Lots 3 and 4 are situate witom a very short distance of the Marshfield Station of the South Wales Railway, and 011 this account very eligible for Letting. Lot 5 adjoins the said Marshfield Station, and is accordingly very useful as accommodation Land. The barns of two en- lolling officers have been burned, aud their residences attacked. The ship George Griswold has been captured and bonded by the Georgia for 100,000 dollars. NEW YORK, July 25, Morning.—The New York World L says that General Meade's army has crossed the Potomac near Harper's Ferry, and has moved down the east side of Blue Ridge upon tbe theory that Gen. Lee was rapidlv re- treating out of the Shenandoah Valley on the west side of the mountains. But General Meade found Lee hm^-ina- the line of the Upper Potomac, and he was threatening Maryland and Washington. General Lee's defiant attitude stopped Meade's advance, and it is now a question of the possibility of a battle. General Morgan's forces are now reported to number 10,000, and to be still marauding in Ohio. General Rosencranz is still on the northern slope of the Cumberland mountains, pre paring to move into East Tennessee. The arrests of rioters continue. It is believed that General Lee intends to cross the Blue Ridge at Chester or Thornton Gap. He is reported to have been delayed on the Upper Potomac, in order to carry away the plunder in Pennsylvania and Maryland, aud the new crop of the Shenandoah Va ley. The opinion still prevails in some quarters that Lee pro- poses another invasion of the North. NEW YORK, July 25, 4.30 p.m.-Many rumours are cir- culating of the state of affairs before Charleston. Some assert that Fort Sumter and the whole of Morris Island have been captured by the Federals, others that the Federals have been severely repulsed. The Government is reported to be in pos- session of news which it declines to publish. Mr. Seward is reported by the Herald's correspondent at Washington to have proposed terms of peace, and reunion in the Cabinet, upon the basis that slavery is an existing fact with which the Federals have nothing further to do than'to prevent its extension into their territories. The general belief is that there will be no conscription in this city. ROCHE'S POINT, Wednesday.-It is believed that the draught in New York has been indefinitely postponed. It is stated that the report current hitherto respecting the movements of General Lee's army are without foundation. It is now asserted that he is still on the line of the Upper Potomac, menacing Washington and Maryland, and may re- cross the river at any moment eXtGnsive of cavalry The Xeu, York World says Lee holds a defiant attitude and has checked General Meade s advance," aid adds that Lee is evidently willing for all cngagement, but doubts whether Meade The reported advance of General Rosecranz, upon Chat. tanooga is untrue. The French residents at New Orleans have petitioned the Emperor to despatch war vessels to the Mississipi, to afford protection against the threatened rising of the blacks. They state their situation to be most critical. A Richmond despatch says the Southern people have not yet begun to fight and warns the North that its late rejoicings are delusions. Liberal amounts are being subscribed in the Southern States for tbe New Orleans refugees. Accounts from Charleston are conflicting. The reported capture of Fort Wagner is generally discredited.
