LONDON CATTLE-MA.RKET.-MoxDAT. The arrival of cattle aud sheep into the port of London from the continent during the past week ha. been moderate. The Custom-house return gives an entry of 485 oxen, 272 calves, and 4,203 sheep, making a total of 4 930 hem), against 1,435 head at the corresponding period of last year. As usual, on the first market day after Christinas, the su.iply t)(meat at the markrt this morning was very small, the oumber of beasts scarcely exceeding 2 000 head, while of sU-ep there were only 7,0 >0, cnlves 50, and pigs 100. <JOlJd beasts were scarce, <n ) the traJe fur them was con- sequently very brisk, at ot, per stone, but middling qualiiies moved olT slowly. LEAD.-An evident improyemeut has manifested itself in this me!itl,trans-ctions having taken place at 5'. per too advance upon last quotations; sellers demand 10s. per too -£21 15'. for English pig. but this is a full price, and no contracts of importance are made known at this figure. SPKLTEB.—Several hundred tons have changed hand", both on the spot, for short arrivals, and lor spring delivery, at prices varying: from £:21 15- to £ 22 2*. 6.1. per tOil; the market closes steady, but the stock here continues to in- crease very largely, and, unless the deliveties during next week are heavy it is not improbable that it may reach 5000 ton*. TIN.—The market for English continues firm, and smelters will not sell under fixed rates Foreign is not held so well. Straits have been purchased at £ 124 10j., and Banca at tl26, and in some few instances at a .bade less, Tur-PLATES. Makerl are well off for orders, both for coke and charcoal. STEEL.-S.edish keg zC20, and rather scarce. No rolled at present in our market for i-ale.—Mining Journal. WOOL. LONDON, MONDAY, Dec. 27.-Although the advices from the manufacturing districts are very favourable, there has been no movement in the English wool trade since our last report; holders, however, are very firm in their demands, and prices rule steady, with every pros- pect of a decided improvement in them. The supply of wool on offer is very moderate.
