It is to the excellent batting of Beth. Owen and the Rev. T. H. Jones Pontygwaith mainly owe their victory. These gave an excel- lent display of cricket, not giving one single chance. Robert Williams helped Pontygwaith a great deal by his excel- lent bowling. The Pontygwaith C.C. is now in full swing, working smoothly and quietly. Keen interest is taken in the team locally. FERNDALE v. LLANTWIT FARDRE. The Ferndalo Premiers played their first home match on Saturday last, when they entertained Llantwit Fardre, the League champions, to a Glamorgan League encounter, before a fair crowd. The homesters batted first, and, much to the disappointment of their supporters, the first two wickets were quickly dismissed at a very low start. However, the part- nership of Harry Uewellyn and Frank Priday proved productive, botli batsmen severely punishmg the bowling in excel- lent style, scoring 37 and 18 runs re- spectively. LleweHyn's total included seven 4's, one 3, and six singles. Llantwit opened up very promising, but failed to produce many runs against the attack of Priday and Llewellyn, the former cap- turing seven wickets for 24 runs, includ- ing the "hat trick." goores FERNDALE. LEWIS MER- THYR 2nds. The above teams met on Saturday last at the Lewis Merthyr Cricket Grounds, Porth, and gave a very fine display of cricket. Despite a showery morning, the pitch was in splendid condition. Very interesting was the fine batting of W. Ll. Davies, T. Phillips, and Smith, for Lewis Merthyr, who in two or three overs hit up in Jessop style 61 runs. W. Pullen, of Cardiff, with 36, was top scorer.
