Davies (headmaster acted as chairman of the committee, Mr. Blanchard Evans as H-easurer, and Mr. I. D. Griffiths as ?'o-etary. The gentlemen's prize in the ?ust drive was won by Mr. Ivor i D. Griffiths, the ladies' prize by Miss Ethel L(?k ^Sberwood), and the boohv prize by ?11'iS Evan? (Pentre). A young lad, Roger Jones, -veai's of age, went back to clear the fall. when the roof again gave way a portion falling upon his head, with the insult that he was instantly killed. ceas was very generally respected and a favourite with his friends.

A itiilive of Middleton, in the County of Cork, P.C. Lynch, at the age of 19, joineu the Royal Artillery in London, v. here ior eight years he was engaged in active service, and four years as a Reserve, and was promoted to the rank of Lombardier, and was stationed at l ilbury Fort. On the expiration, of his time he joined the Glamorgan Con- stabulary at Cardiff 2(j years ago. He was subsequently stationed at Trehafod, Skewen, C adoxt-on (Neath), Tylorstown,* Cdtynydd. Theophilus Edwards, Ton- Pentre; Inspectors John Salter' Ton, Ihomas, Ferndale Jones, Canton; T, Harries. Penarth and Rees, Pontypridd, together with 1G4 sergeants, acting-ser- geants, and constables. The burial ser- vice was conducted by the Revs. T. Tissington. Cwmparc, and G. Phipps. The cliief mourners were:—Mrs. Lynch (widow ) the Misses Xorah, Muriel and Ida Lynch (daughters) Masters Ernest and Trevellian Lynch (sons); Mr. and Mrs. Harry Holmes. Swansea (brother- in-law and sister-in-law ) Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Holmes, Skewen. Wreaths were given by the following;—Mrs. Lynch and family; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Holmes. Swansea the Glamorgan Constabulary Mr. Ted Bum ford Air. anJ Mrs. Bum- font and family, Cwmparc; Mrs. Ronan, Cardiff Mrs. Passmore, Abercanaid Mrs. Kestall, Senghenydd and Mrs. Collins, Ynyswen.

Ton. At St. David's Hall on Thursday and Saturday, the 8th and 10th inst. respec- tively, two miscellaneous concerts were given by the children of St. David's. The attendance was very good. Mr. Williams (Brynbedw) occupied the chair on Thurs- day evening, and the Rwv. J. Castor (Parish Church) on Saturday, in the absence of the Rev. Canon Lewis. The children performed their tasks very creditably in choruses, action songs and lullabies. The song and tableau, entitled The Showmen on Tour," was highly appreciated. To Miss Maud Clement belongs the credit of having accomplished [ successfully so arduous a task. The accompanist w as Miss Doris Hutchings.

Llwynypta. I A very instructive lecture was delivered by Mr. J. T. Lewi,s (Tonypandy) at the last- meeting of the Salem Young Men's Mutual Improvement Society, 011 The Land of Canals and Windmills (Holland)." Mr. Roland Hughes (Campbell Terrace) presided over an appreciative audience. We regret the death of Mrs. Margaret Rees. aged 58 years relict of the late David Rees, 8, Aytoii Terrace, Llwyny- pia, which took place on Wednesday of last week, after several months' illness. The burial took place on Saturday last at Llethrddu Cemetery, Trealaw, the Rev. John Morgan (Bethania) officiating. A goodly number of relatives and friends attended. Mr. Morgan made touching remarks at the graveside on the exem- plary life of the deceased and the devotion of her only son, Mr. David Rees, printing foreman at Messrs. Evans & Short's, Tonypandy. I Funeral of the Late Mrs. Geo. Knill, The funeral took place at the Cardiff Cemetery, on Tuesday last, of Mrs. Mary Knill, wife of Mr. Geo. Knill, formerly postmaster at Tonypandy. Mrs. Knill died at her residence, 34. The Parade, Cardiff, on the 8th inst., in her 76th year. A service (fully choral) was held at St. James' Church, of which Mr. Knill has been warden for many years past. The committal rites were par- formed by Vicar Henderson. Among the "Teaths on the coffin was one from the Lord Mavor and Lady Mayoress of Cardiff. I
