During the heavy thunderstorm last Tuesday, a horse belonging to Mr T. B. Clode was killed at Llandough, and a valuable cow belonging to Mr T. Evans, Burden's Hill, Wenvoe. A house was also struck at Cadoxton, and some damage done. The Sanitary Committee of the Glamorgan County Council have just made a popular appoint- ment, Mr Reg. Wm. Hall, M.R.C.V.S.,L., Barry Docks, having this week been appointed as veterinary inspector for the Dinas Powis Petty Sessional Division of the County. The appoint- ment is a worthy tribute to Mr Hall's professional qualifications and personal popularity, for the other applicants were four of the leading Cardiff vets. Amongst the first-class passengers on board the R.M.S. Walmer Castle, which sailed on June 6th for the Cape, was Mr T. Kennelly Simpson, brother-in-law of Mr A. H. Denning, of Barry Docks. The traffic receipts of the Barry Railway, including the Vale of Glamorgan Railway, last week amounted to £ 8,827, a decrease, compared with the corresponding period of last year, of £4,405 aggregate increase, £ 5,366.
