Matthews Divorce Suit. I LONDON, Thursday.—The hearing of the Matthews divorce suit was resumed to-day in the Divorce Division before Mr Justice Barnes and a Special jury. Mr George Lipscombe Matthews, 1 solicitor, of Hyde Park-mansions, London, sued for a divorce from his wife, Mrs Emma. Florence Matthews, formerly a Miss Jjewis, of Narberth, Pembrokeshire, against whom he alleged adultery with Mr Thomas Stanier, of Pont-street, London. The adultery was denied, and Mrs Matthews claimed a divorce on the giound of her husband's alleged cruelty and adultery, which he denied. Mr Matthews, who was examined yesterday, Was now cross-examined. He admitted that a fortnight after he instructed private detectives to watch he had gone with his wife to dine with Mr and Mrs Stanier, but he could not get out of the engagement. He had sworn at his wife under great provocation,but did not recollect calling her foul names. She was incessantly nagging about his relations. She had a violent temper, and he ¡ Was rather peppery.
