TO THE ELECTORS OF THE WEST WARD. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— The sad and sudden death of Councillor Openshaw causes a vacar.cy in the representation. My views upon trade and friendly society matters being identical with those of the late member, I very readily respond to the request of a large and representative body of working men-supported by other important organisations—that I should offer myself as a Candidate. As a ratepayer and elector for more than a quarter of a century, I claim to know something of the wants of my fellow-townsmen; and as a business man in the Ward for upwards oi seventeen years, I may be depended upon to support such proposals as shall be for the benefit of the trade of the town. My well-known interest in movements having for their object the mental and physical recreation of the people, should be sufficient guarantee oi my support being given to anything that will help to make "Life worth living," especially for the children. Positions of trust which I have held in national and local organisations, with experiences gained by extensive travel, should assist me in taking an intelligent interest in all matters that come up for discussion. Believing that the inhabitants generally should be interested in the affairs of their own town. I shall consider it my duty to meet the electors of the Ward from time to time, thus giving an account of my stewardship. Leaving the issue, with every confidence, in your hands, I beg to remain, Yours sincerely and obediently, JOHN STANFORD. 26, Hope-street, Wrexham, Dec. 3rd, 1900. Mr Stanford will be glad to hear from anv of his friends who can assist him on the day of election 3096 MUNICIPAL ELECTION, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14TH, 19CO. TO THE ELECTORS i OF THE WEST WARD. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— At the earnest and pressing request of a large and influential body of electors of the West Ward I have consented to offer myself as a Candidate for the seat in the Town Council rendered vacant by the untimely and justly-lamented death of Mr Thomas Openshaw, your iate member. I think I may lay claim to possessing special qualifications for such a post, having as you are doubtless aware, already served on the Council for a period of six years, and also as a member of the Board of Guardians for nine years, and I can honestly say that during the whole of that time I have endeavoured to conscientiously fulfil all the promises made by me to the electors, and my record I of attendances at the various meetings will show my strict attention to the duties appertaining to such offices. I am one of the largest ratepayers in the West Ward, being owner of a large amount of property there, so that my interests in connection with financial questions will be identical with your own, and as at the preeent time the town is committed to a number of important and costly schemes it will be my special duty to give my careful consideration to the same. In conclnsion, I may say that, as always, I shall be very p eased to do anything in my power to promote the welfare of the Working Classes of the town, and should you do me the honour of returning me as your member on the 14th inst., yon may rest assured that I will endeavour to represent you independently, faithfully, and well. I remain, Ladies and Gentlemen, Your obedient servant, JAMES WHITTINGHAM. Fechan House, Wrexham, Dec. 5th, 1900. 3141ez R APH AE L'S ALMANAC, 1901 NOW READY.
