I I BOROUGH OF WREXHAM. I MUNICIPAL ELECTION. I TO THE El.ECTORS OF THE NORTH WARD. I LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,—The term of my office as your representative will expire on the 1st Novem- ber. I have during the past nine y ars endeavoured to serve your interests faithfully, as my attendance at nearly all the meetings will show. I have taken a keen interest in all matters pertaining to our good old town, and should you do me the honor to re-elect me. I shall continue to study the general interest of the ratepayers. As regards the Housing of the Poor, I consider many of the so-called insanitary dwellings may ba made habitable by the owners themselves putting the property in a state of repair necessary for the comfort of our poorer neigh- bours, until cheap and suitable dwellings shall be erected. I have sunperted the Reduction of Rent to the Free Library, which I consider has done much good work in the town. Thanking you all for the confidence you have placed in me during the many years I have represented you, I am, Ladies and Gentlemen, Your obedient servant, I BENJAMIN OWE-N. I TO THE ELECTORS OF THE NORTH WAHD. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,—An influential Deputa- JLj tion of the Ratepayers have requested me to allow myself to be nominated for election to the Borough Council for the North Ward. Having consenteI have now to introduce myself to you, and solicit your votes and interest. I am not unknown to many of you my residence in Wrexham and its neighbourhood is now nearly twenty-two years. I cinnot suggest myself as a large ratepayer in the Borough, but you are tware I have extennve interests out- side, which largely contribute to its prosperity and the well being of the Urban population. There are no burning questions before your Muniopat Parliament, therefore I cannot particularise any which would receive special attention. Should you honor me with your support, and intrust me with your confidence, I will promise to sifeguard the in- terests committed to my care, and furthe r any other calculated to benefit the Town and its inhabitants. I have the Honor to remain, Ladies and Gentlemen, Your obedient Servant, Pn Ltwyn. Wrt'xbam, EDWIN STANLEY CLARK. I Pen Hwyn, Wrexham, 2116h I October 15th, t8:?. ZHOh

I BOROUGH OF WREXHAM. I MUNICIPAL BLEC rlON. I TO THE ELECTORS OF THE SOUTH WARD. J I LADIES AND GENTLE.IIEN,-At the urgent request J_J of a number of large ratepayers in your Ward, I have consented to offer myself as a candidate for the vacant seat in the Town Council. Should you be pleased to elect me, I can assure you that your interests and those of our good old town will receive my most careful attention. It is my firm opinion that the growth of Wrexham will be more rapid in the future than it has even been in the past, and therefore the policy of the Council must be a wise and far-seeing one. Such a policy would always find in me a steaay supporter, because by its aid true economy could be obtained. I am of opinion tha1, all Corporations should possess and control their own gas and water supplies, while the markets should not be in independent haucl. If any wise scheme can be framed having this reform in view, I shall be prepared to support it. I am in favor of public baths, wash-houses, and recreation grounds, and my opinion is that the remisai n of the Free Library rent is needed. As one who has resided in Wrexham for the last 35 years, I am not ignorant of your wants. Your interests are the same as mine, and I therefore respectfully ask for your support on the day of election. I am, Lalies and Gentlemen, I Your obedient servant, JAMES STEVENS. BOROUGH OF WREXHAM. MUNICIPAL ELECTION. I TO THE ELECTORS OF THE SOUTH WARD. I r ADIES AND GENTLEMEN,—I have been requested by many influential Burgesses ti allow myself to be nominated for the repiesentation of the South Ward in the Town Council. I therefore place myself in your hands with the sole onject n eicotrd, of giving my i4arneqt attention and con- sideration to all matters tha may be of benefit to the town and inhabitant". I am a strict advocate of reasonable economy, but I nevertheless consider tint the growth of Wrexham causes the present to he a critical period in the developmentof the town. ar.d I think that broad-minded meisures of general improvement should be carefully kept in view, even if they might entail some expense. As the largest ratepayer in the South Ward, my interests are entirely identical with those of every ratepayer. I am, Yours, truly, FiiEDERIC W. SOAMES. Llwyn Onn Hall. Wrexham, 7th Oct., 1890 203th

BOROUGH OF WREXHAM. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE EAST WARD. LADIKS AND GENTLEMEN, I have now hid the L honor of representing you in the Council for the past twelve months, and again present myself before you to solicit your suffrage". I have given my best attention to the work with which you entrusted me, an I have endeavoured to accomplish all that I promised. In conjunction with His Worship the Mayor I am work- ing for better sanitation and better housing of the poor in the borough. and hope to see at no distant time Public Baths and Public Recreation Grounds provided for the people by the Municipality. My efforts also to obtain the better lighting of our Courts and Alleys have not been unsuccessful. It is very desirable that the Markets and the G.is ard Water supplies should be vested in the Corporation, and I am sanguine that this could be done, not only without increaing our rates, but with a reduction to the rate- payers in the ccst of these important public requirements. I >haH have the pleasure of feeing you personally during the next few weeks to render and account of my stewardship, nd also to take your opinion as to the questions I have mentioned, or any otheis in which your are interested. I remain, Ladies and Gentlemen, Faithfully Yonrs, C. K. BENSON. 14, High-street, Wrexham, October 4tb, 1690. 2uS7f

BOROUGH OF WREXHAM. MUNICIPAL ELECTION. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE EAST WARD. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,—Having been requested by a number of my fellow working men to allow myself to he nominated for the vacant seat in your Ward, I have consented. My long residence in the Ward induces me to believe that I may be able to serve thb interests of the Ward and the Town in general. I shall be glad to see the necessary steps taken to secure for the benefit of the town the profits derived from the Market Tolls, and the supply of Water and Gas to its inhabitants. If I am returned, I will endeavour to support thrse measures which aim at securing the health, the cltanli- ness, and the general good of the town. I pledge myself to oppose as far as I can all unwise and injudicious expendi- ture of the ratepayers' money. Any other matter that comes up will have my careful attention. On these grounds I appeal for your support, and I assure you that I shall spare no effort to deserve your confidence. My residence for so many years in the East Ward gives me special interest in that Ward, and leads me to believe that I am well known to most of the residents therein. I have no record of past public service to appeal to. but I trust that your knowledge of me as a wot king-man, is such as to induce you to honor me with j our votes on the day of election. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE WEST WARD. T ADIES AND GENTLEMEN,—As I have been in- formed that yocr representative. Mr William Pierce, who has served you so faithfully for the last nine years, does not intend to seek re-election, I have great pleasure in offering myself as a Candidate for the vacancy. If I am elected, I shill do my best to serve the interests of the residents in the Ward and Town generally; I shall be glad to see insanitary dwellings removed and an im- provement in the condition of the nouses of the poor. and will gladly support the efforts that are now being made in that direction. I think that the Gas and Water and Markets should be in the hands of the Corporation, and I shall vote in favor of any well-devised scheme for cffectins that object, as believe that if properly carried out it will be a source of income to the Borough. All uieasures for the material and moral improvement of the Towc sball have my best consideration and support; I think among other thiegs that the rent of the Free Library should be remitted.
