I instructed him to sell some sheep for me on the 26th of September at the Oswestry Sinithlield. There were III as far as I can rec- licet, they were all ewes. I was nut 'here. Mr Jones was acting as my man. In cons* quence of communication sent to me by Mr JOBes, I communicated with Mr Barrett. I was in the Oswestry Smithfield on the 10 h October last. I cannot swear to it. On the 10th I saw the prisoner Morgan in the Smith- field, he was assisting me with the sheep. Morgan moved it from one pen to the other in order to keep it separate frem the rest- It was well known to him thitt the sheep was astray one. I did not sell the wether to Morgan, nor did I sell any other s heep to him. I did not give him the wet her in his charge, nor did I instruct him to sell it I missed the sheep from the Smithfield about four o'clock. Witness being examined by prisoner Morgan, said I c inuot tell in looking at the skin now which of the b own mark. were produced first, it is impossible to Ml. I should not like to give an opinion. On the 10'h October I bought 123 cms from Mr Thomas, the last witness, in the O-westry Smithfield. When I was taking them home, a sheep joined my 8jek near the Cottage Hospital. I took it home with me alons; with the other sheep. Oa October 31st, I -aw Morgan in the Smithfield. He asked me whether I had taken with me a Clun wether with two blue spots on it. I said I had. He asked me what expense bad been incurred with it. I said 10s. He gave me 5-t. Prisoners afterward cume to my farm and took the sheep away. I gave it to them, believing they were the proper owner?. The skin produced is eimilarto that ot that iihrep. It bal two blue spots, on the beiid and shou'der, a T on the left side, it is similar to that of the sheep I hid. I have no doubt in my mind but that it is the one. There was also a B" on the right side, at least I thought it was a B." In reply to prisoner Morgan, witness said I cannot say whetber the two marks were produced the same day. Tha sheep bad then become mixed, and we had them separated and counted again, whan they only made 73. Oa the 9th November I went to Rhosne«»nev Farm, about a mile or so from Wrexham. I s iw the gentleman's sheep there, about 150, more or less. I compared the skin produced by P.C. Edwards with thotie of the sheep there, and found they corres- ponded at Bear as posgible. There was a T on the left side, B" on the romp, and en the right side there was a red mark on the s houlder, the r, ti was underneath the blue. With the permission ef the owner, I took a shepp from one of the S >ck and had it slaughtered that day, intending to mve tne ekin to the police-officer to go with him. He, hot- ever, had gone, no I made it into a parcel and sent it < ff by second train the next day to 06westry. The skiu produced is the one I sent; some of the I wool has been cut uff trom the neck with a knife.- In reply to prisoner Morgan, witness said There are ear marks on both skins, bat I can say nothing about those. I The skins being again produced, witness pointed out to the B"nch that the ear marks were pimilar on each.] I cannot swear whother the pitcb-mark on the rnmp is a figure "8" or a letter "B." I am inclined to think it is the latter; it depends a great deal on the length of the wool and its texture whether all the marks made would be exactly as pliin as each ofc'ier.—Mr Bairett, having been recalled, said I saw the prisoners on the morning of Satuid^y week, November 30th, from ten to eleven o'clock, in the Markrt Hall, Oswestry. I left the skin and carcase there and went into the Cross Market abous half-past nine in the morning. A short titue after 1 saw the prisoner Morris with the carcase of a sheep in the market. Prisoner Morgan was standing a few yards off at the time. I went to Morris a few minutes after, and -aid Morris come alú & with me to H. Jones' sleughter-bonse, Bailey-street. He came with me. MARRIAGE OF LADY BEATRICE GROSVENOR. The marriage of the Ltdy Beatrice Constance Gros.venor, second daughter of the Duke of West- minster, K.G., to Captain the Hon. C. Cosaptfln Cavendish, the son and heir of Lord Cheslu.m, I took place on Tnesdny, at Eccleston Church. Thenad from Chester was thronged by persons gravitating towards Eccleston for som, hours before the appoirited time of the ceremony, and the churchyard was crowded by sightseers. I ilf) not beliwe that opinion in this country is ripe for such a change, and though it may be ripe f r some good measures, yet for such a measure as that pro- posed in Ireland it is not ripe, and therefore it is with no such view as regards this country that I continue to suppoit, as I have zealously supported, that mea- sure for Ireland. But I do say that it is intolerable that because it is thought that at some future time the example of what has taken place in Ireland may spread into England, and may dispose the people of this country—because without them it cannot he done -ti) do the same act wf seif-deuia! an this side of the water that the Irish people have done on the other, that on tlllt account the Irish people are to he pre- vented from performing on their own behalf that ex- cellent and meritorious act.
