AGRICULTURE. I THE COllN WRIDE.-The Mark-Lane Express says-" The copious rains have occasioned heavy floods in some localities, yet more rain is wanted to make up for the drought of last year. The wheat trade is severely tried by the inj ury of the condition of samples, and without some dry old foreign to help off the new, English millers would have been brought to a nonplus. Prices still show some declension, and many places quote Is. to 2s. lower; but the decline is more in quality than anything else. No difference is noted this week in Paris, either in wheat or flour; but in several provincial towns there has been a decline of Is. per quarter. A fine fall of rain in Cali- fornia has produced a fall of 3s per quarter, as a a large yield is not expected. The stocks of old at Adelaide were thoroughly cleared out, but the power to export was calculated at 1,000,000 qrs., and beyond anything previously. Our deliveries last week were 11,554 qrs, an excess over 1874, but the price per quarter is 18s. less. From New York 35s. 9d., seems the lowest quotation we may expect."
THE DENBIGHSHIRE CONSOLIDATEDI…
THE DENBIGHSHIRE CONSOLIDATED I MINES. (From our own Correspondent.) I An ordinary general meeting of the Share- holders in these mines was held at the office, 30, Great St. Helen's, London, on Wednesday, Mr. Francis Radall, j an., in the chair. The statement of accounts for twelve months, made up to the 15th inst., showed a balance of E115 lls. ld. in favour of the company. The following is the most important passage iD the Directors' report:—"The directors would urge their co-proprietors to regard the property as a most valuable one, and that it has required additional time to develope, mainly on account of the difficult ground at the 112 level; but as this drawback is now being surmounted, and the heavy expenditure hitherto found necessary is at an end, they trust the shareholders will unite with them in bringing to bear such influence as will secure the permanent success of the under- dertaking. The board are induced to make these observations in consequence of the anxiety so frequently exhibited when unavoidable delays take place. In the last report reference was made to Parry's Shaft workings, and the same remarks will aj-ply at the present time bat before again meeting the shareholders, the direc- tors expect to have 0 this valuable portion of the property in full working order, and as the lead ore discovered there was of such fine character, good returns must speedily foilow the draining of this vein. The Directors feel bound also to re- mind their co-shareholders that, after a careful I.. __L. .:J_L deliberation, a iar iuort: exLeuaive ueveiupeiueni was decided upon, and has been proceeding, than was at first calculated for. If these workings are carefully considered, every shareholder must feel convinced that the absence of dividends, so far, cannot be attributed in any way to failure bat rather to a judicious opening out of what promises, more than ever, to be a permanently valuable property. By April next the Executive feel corifident that the mine will be returning many tons of lead. A monthly yield of less than 40 tons will give 10 per cpnt. upon the total capital, including the new issue suggested, and this output is suggested from Parry's workings, without calculating any addition from the eastern mine." The agents (Messrs John Pryor, and John Edwards), in their report of the work accom- plished since February, 1874, having detailed the progress at different points, stated that allowing for all contingencies, there was no doubt that in April or May they would be reaping the fruits of their labours and outlays, and have such returns, as would fully compensate for all the expenditure incurred. The reports and statement of accounts were unanimously adopted. At an extraordinary general meeting sub- sequently held, the following special resolutions were unanimously adopted 1.—-That$he capital of the company be increased by the crea- tion of two thousand five hundred (2,500) addi- tional shares of three pounds each, the same to be T 1 i « i issued ana rateaidiy ottered amongst the present holders of shares in the Denbighshire Con- solidated Mines Limited, as entered in the regis- ter of members. 2.—That the said two thousand five hundred (2,500) shares be issued at par, j63 per share. 3.—That a payment of ten shillings (10s) per share be made upon application, and no further call for six months. 4. —That upon every application for ten (10) of such shares, a bonus of one fully paid (£3 )ghare be granted. 5.-That all shareholders not taking up their quota of the new shares within the time to be prescribed for so doing, do lose all right and title to the same, and that shares be left in the hands of the directors for disposal. It was resolved that a special meeting be held on the llth proximo, to confirm the foregoing resolution. and the usual ?proceedings. to the chairman terminated the vote of thanks to the ch&irmau terminated the

LONDON, Monday.—The total imports of foreign stock into London last week consisted of 3,312 head. In the corresponding week last year we received 3,695; in 1873, 7,659; in 1872, 7,091; in 1871, 2,547; and in 1870, 6,009. Notwithstanding the unfavourable wealhfr, there was a fair amount of steadiness in the cattle trade. From our own graziag districts a moderate supply of beasts was received, but the quality was rather various. Choicest breeds commauded a fair amount of attention at late rates. The best Scots and crosses fetched 6s to 6:! id per Slhs. Of sheep a scanty supply. The enquiry was active. The best Downs and hilf-breds were sold at 6:1 8d to 6s IOd per 81b. Cop,i.Nlonday Last week's supplies of foreign wheat and barley were good, of maize liberal, and moderate in flour. English wheat, 5,712 quarters foreign, 28,988 quarters. The show of fresh samples from Essex and K-nt this morning was limited, the condiiion of the majority still very bad. The best dry lots went off at last Monday's rates, but inferior was still difficult to quit at the prices of that day. The foreign trade evinced rather more movement, and old samples sold at previous quotations. Country flour, 22,141 sacks foreign, 5,095 sacks, 12,503 barrels. The weather being colder there was less depres- sion in the trade, but the previfMis rates were not exceeded in country sorts. Foreign, both in sacks and barrels, went off slowly at unaltered prices. British barley, 3,528 quarters foreign, 26,535 quarters. Malting sorts found a quiet enquiry at the same money. French qualities were a better sale, and grinding sold steadily and without charge. The malt trade was quiet, with prices acnch as previously quoted. The increased supply of this grain lower the value of some sorts is to 2s. English oats, 378 quarters Scotch, 190 quarters: Irish, 100 qnarters foreign 1.095 quarters. The sudden falling off in the foreign supplies increased the value of tho "ram oa to is per quarter, with a fair demand for all sorts. Good harl foreign beans were in steady value, but soft new English were a slow sale. Peas for hog feeding were scarce and kept dear, white remained dull. In cloverseed more busi ness has been passing, at very full prices for fine sorts, and spring tares sold steadily at rather more money. Business Announcements, NATURE'S PERFECT REMEDY FOB ALL KINDS OF WORMS. WILLIAM'S (PONTARDAWE WORM tT LOZENGES. There is no disease incidental to the human system that has so baffled the skill of the physician as the cure and removal of worms. The symptoms arising from the presence of these pests are so varied, and the old nauseous remedies still in use of purging with powders of calomel, jalap, scammony, &c., are quite inadequate for their cure, and thus the patient, after many yeas of treatment, often dies a lingering death, having been treated by the medical attendant for diseases from which he or she never suffered. It was this known fact, combined with the knovVedge that nine out of every ten persone suffer from worms of some kind, caused the late Jenkin Williams to make research in the vegetable kingdom for a remedy that may be taken by the weakest child or the strongest man, and which would destroy every species of worms detrimental to the human system without in any way injuring the weakest constitution. After several years ef study and experiments, which broke down his health, he was enabled to discover that much coveted prize, and so formed it into Lozenges that they become quite a palatable medicine, so that the youngest child will take them easily and their miraculous expulsion of worms, although not a purgative, is almost incred- ible, as millions of all ages have testified by the nu- merous testimonials, daily coming to hand. Prepared from the original receipt by J. Davies, chemist, Swan- sea, and sold by most chemists at 9jd., 131-d., and 2s. 9d. per box. Protected by the Government stamp, on which are engraved Williams's Worm Lozenges." ONE DESTROYING THIRTY-FOUR. Penrhewl, near Loughor, September 7th, 1873. Sir,—A very extraordinary thing has occurred at oui house. My little girl passed thirty-four large worms after eating a single lozenge out of a box of Williams's Pontardawe Worm Lozenges. I would not have believed it, had I not seen it with my own eyes. I have always found them much better than any pow- ders or lozenges I can get for my children. Yours obediently, MARY WILLIAMS. To Mr J. Davies. Any of the following symptoms indicate worms:- Variable appetite, fceted breath, acid eructation, pains in the stomach and head, grinding of teeth during sleep, picking of the nose, paleness of the counten- ance, hardness and fullness of the belly, slimy stool, with occasienal griping pains, more particularly about the naval, short dry cough, and emaciation of the body, often mistaken for decline, slow fever, and irregular pulse, sometimes convulsive fits-often causing sudden death, and heat and itching about the anus, which often causes them to be mistaken for piles. CAUTION.—None are Genuine! unless they bear the Inventor's Signature on the Wrapper around each box Jk. WILLIAAIS. And the words Williams'Worm Lozenges" on the Government stamp. I IRON.
I IRON. .MIMDLEsBeRouoE[.-Tjmesday The attendance to-day has been small, but though there was a fair enquiry for pig iron the amount of actual business done was poor. At the end of last week trade had improved, and with it prices, but to-day things are flatter, and quotations about the same as last Tuesday. No 1 is 63a. cash, No 3. 57s. 6d. to 59a., and No. 4 forge 55s. Mer- chants have ceased selling at the low figures of last week. The orders now placed are nearly all for early delivery, the practice of making long contracts having been abandoned by producers in the present uncertain state of trade. There is ne improvement in the finished iron of any des- cription. Coke is in very much greater rpqaest than it has lately been, and prices are 2s. 6d. per ton advanced.
4wI THE COAL TRADE.
4w I THE COAL TRADE. SERIOUS STATE OF AFFAIRS IN SOUTH WALES. -On Friday week, a most important meeting of the Iron and Coal Masters' Association of Mon- mouthshire and Santh Wales was held at the Royal Hotel, Cardiff, Mr. R. Fothergill, M.P., was in the chair, and the masters present em- ployed abont 60,000 colliers and a somewhat larger number of ironworkers. Since the refusal of the colliers to accept a reduction of 10 per cent., colliers connected with ironworkers have been kept at work to keep the ironworks going, and the colliers' union allowed the colliers to work at 10 per cent. reduction. These collieries not only raise coal for ironworks, but send several thousands of tons of coal into the market weekly, while the collieries of the coalmasters are idle. The meeting was unanimous that this state of things could not last much longer, and passed a resolution that an entire lock-out should com- mence on Monday next if the majority of the colliers do not return to work by that time. The ironmasters intend to issue a notice closing their works at the end of the month from the next pay day. Unless the men return to work, the lock-out will be one of the largest ever knowu in this country. Distress exists already among the colliers. On Monday Mr Alexander Mac- donald, M.P., addressed a miner's conference in Glasgow. Adverting to the strike in Wales, he maintained that the men had been guided by reason throughout in proposing arbitration, and the masters were very unreasonable, and did nof show fairly any common sense. He approved ot the recent remarks of Lord Aberdare at Swansea, but he thought that the English miners were in a more favourable position than the Scotch miners.
THE ALLTAMI (FLINTSHIRE) COLLIERY…
THE ALLTAMI (FLINTSHIRE) COLLIERY I COMPANY. (From our own Correspondent.) I An ordinary general meeting of the share- holders in th:s company was held at the London office on Wednesday, Mr Richard Dake in the I chair. The statement of accounts for the past year showed a balance, amounting to JE810 Is 8d in favour of the company, from which a dividend of 5 per cent was declared payable on the 27th of next month. At a special general meeting, subsequently held, it was resolved, That the capital of the company be increased by the creation of 3,000 additional shares of JE5 each, and that the direc- tors be empowered to carry. out the purchase of leases of minerals under adjacent lands for a sum not exceeding £ 7,800. Messrs J. J. and J. G Williams, civil and mining engineers, of Holywell and Mold, in a special report on the value of mineral land ad- joining the property at present worked, stated, After well considering the facilities and the easy access, with but little cost, to the most valuable seams in the district, we have every confidence in recommending these properties to amply repay investors, and with judicious management yield handsome profits to your company." -00
