The Works are !ie!<l inuler leases from T hos. Jones, Esq., df all tlie l>eils of foal and tire day under about 1:20 acres, at a moderate royalty. The most valuable of the he-Is of coal and clay TIMacot is that known as the Half-vanl Coal and Clay. The coal in this seam is of the iiesc ami finest quality, and suitable for all purposes, whether for coke, household, or for best I iron manufacture. It meets with a ready sale at the junto.st pi ici's paid for coal in the district. The clay is oi :i quality peculiarly suitable for the manufacture Ti-rra-Cotta. faring bricks, and sewer tubes; it hums 1,1 a very hard, almost vitrious, body of a pure light hnff colour, and cannot he injured either by smoky atmosphere or by frost. For sewer tubes it takes a »l:ize readily, and does not lose its form in burning. There f,1'1' also several acres of the Nant Coal ungot, which is won within twenty yards of the surface, and which will supply cheap fuel for the Works for a long time, enabling a large portion of the Half-vard Coal to soil. The PLANT comprises: —'Tlirce pits, winding entine, head gear, and all necessary appliances of the Wst construction. Grinding engine, Hin, cylinder, ft. tiin. stroke, with double bed for a second engine when re'iuired. Two very strong grinding mills and pue mills, all arranged that the clay from the pit continually descends until the finished articles are Wiled into railway trucks, which run on a siding close in the kilns. The steam boiler is 40ft. Ion:; by 4ft. tiin. diameter, and is set so that while supplying both twines with steam, the waste heat passes under the shed floor, and dries the goods in a most efficient manner. A great saving of fuel is thus effected. The sheds are 72ft. by 7ft., are all Hued, and covered with tire brick tiles, and are in perfect order. There is a large day shed for tempered clay, with chamber over for Terra-Cotta and chimney pot ware. A large shop for joiner and blacksmith, and chamber over, suitable I for a stove rnom and platv for moulds. Three round kilns, of modern construction, arranged for do™ draughts running through. They will hold about •2II.IW bricks each. Office, fitted with desks, cnphmril, Ac. Five-ton weighing machine. Two small weighing machines. Two brick presses. Tile press. Two Cameron pumps, one tl-in. ram, and one rr.-in. rain and all other appliances necessary for the business. These Works have been recently erected at a. cost of upwards of £JII,OI). under the supervision of an experienced brickniaker, and are admirably arranged I tor expeditious and economical working.
