Freeholds for life of 45 annual value or upwards, except when acquired by inheritauce, marriage, dec., in which case 40s value is sufficient. LEASEHOLDS- Leaseholds (originally of not less than 60 years) of £5 annual value or upwards. Leaseholds (originally of not less than 20 years) of t50 annnal value or npwards. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A COUNTY OR BOROUGH VOTE. DWELLING-BOUSES. Ocoupation as owner or tenant of any dwelling. honse. A "dwelling-house" includes, for the purposes of the franchise, any part of a honse which is separately ooenpfed as a dwelling," and where the landlord lets out the whole of the house in apartments, retaining no control. OCCUPATION FRANCHISE. The occupation as owner or tenant of any land or tenement of the clear yearly value of not less than £10. The word" tenement" includes such places as warehouses, counting houses, shops, or other buildings, also any part of a bouse, separately OC, cupied for trade, business, or profe3sional purposes. LODGINGS. The inhabitant occupier of lodgings, in the same house, of the value of £10 per annum unfurnished. "Lodgings" comprise any apartments or place of residence, whether famished or unfurnished, ia a dwelling house, where the landlord resides and re- tains control over the passages and outer doors. PARTICULARS. LENGTH OF POSSESSION. Freeholds mnst be held for SIX MONTHS prior to JULY 15th, except when inherited or acquired by marriage settlement, &c. In the case of Leaseholds, Dwelling-bouses, Oocn« pation, or Lodgings, TWELVE Mouths' Possession or Oooapation prior to JULX 15th is necessary, PAYUINT OF BATES. In the case of Dwelling-houses or occupation Franchise all Poor Rates due on the 5th JANUABY mnst be paid on or before JULY 2Qtb. In the case of £10 Occupiers, Assessed Taxes mnst also be paid on or before the 20th JULY. If the Owner is liable for the rates, and,has not paid them, the Tenant may pay them, and deduct the amount from the rent. Wherever the Landlord pays the rates, the Over- seers are bound to insert the Occupier's name in the Rate-book. JOINT OWNEHSEIP OR OCCUPATION. Where several persons own or occupy property jointly, only one of them can claim a vote, uuless they have acquired the property by Inheritance, Marriage, or by Will; or except they occupy the property and carry on business as partners thereon. SUCCESSIVE OCCUPATION, If two or more premises iu the same constituency are occupied in immediate succession, the Vote is not thereby lost, provided that a Claim is sent to the Overseers on or before AUGUST 20th, giving par ticulars of all of the premises so occupied. PROPERTY IN PARLIAMENTARY BOROUGHS. A Freehold situated in any Parliamentar borough does not confer a County Vote when occa. pied by the owner. A leashold or copyhold, if situated in a Parlia- mentary Borough, does not give the owner a County Vote in any case. THE SERVICE FRANCHISE. Any man who himself occupies a Dwelling-hoas by virtue of any Office, Service, or Employment, i. entitled to a vote in respect of the same, provided that the Person under whom he serves does not inhabit the house. The Overseers are bonud to place the Names of all such Occupiers on the Rate- book, notwithstanding that the Rates may be paid by their Employer. NOTICES OF CLAIMS TO VOTE. Freeholders and Leaseholders, in order to obtain the Franchise, must send in a claim to the Overseers of the Parish in which the Property is situated on or before JULY 20th. The Names of Householders and occupiers are planed by the Overseers on the list which they publish on the 1st August. No claim is necessary in their case, but if their nantes are omitted by the Overseers, a Notice of Claim must be sent on or beford August 20th. Lodgers must send in Claims to Vote on or before AUGust 20th, or their names will not be Registered. Lodgers, who are already on the Register, most Reolaim before IDLY 25th.
