THIS SCHOOL, founded by GABRIEL GFLOBMAN, _L Dean of Westminster, in 1594, and recently re-organised by the Public Schools Commissioners, was RE-OPENED under the New Scheme in SEPTEMBER, 1881, and has, during the past twelve months, received a considerable accession of Scholars. This fact, together with the thorough character of the teaching, and the highly satisfactory results of the Examinations, drew from the Senior Examiner, PROFESSOR BlIYS, the following encouraging remarks: With regard to the work of the School generally, so far "as it has come under my notice, I must say that I am "very mnch 1)lwged with it; the tone of the whole is decidedly ood, while the accuracy nd rcadiness with which t?o boys have given :heir answers do very great credit to the Read-master and the pains-taking Scholars, who have been working with him during the year The School is destined, if I mistake not, to thrive greatly, and to rcach again the mark of its highest tide of "prosperity in the past. The object of the Foundation is to provide a Classical, Mathematical, and General Education on very moderate terms. The School was selected by the Public Schools Commissioners as the chief First Grade School of North-east ales, a selection fully justified by its past reputation and magnificent prospective endowments. The course of study is eitnei Classical, having for its special object the preparation necessary for the Classical Curriculum of the English Universities; or Mathematical and Scientific, based on the require- ments of the Mathematical and Science Schools o Oxford and Cambridge, and of the Indian Civil Ser vice and Engineering Departments; or General, the aim of which is to offer efficient preparation for the various Legal and Medical Preliminary Examina tions, and for Mercantile Pursuits. From thisdepart- mentGreek is excluded, and more special attention is directed to Chemistry, French, Arithmetic, Modern History, Geography, Dictation, English Composi- tion, and Book-keeping. Pupils are admitted at the age of Eight, and special care is taken to make the early training as thorough and comprehensive as possible. 0 The Tuition Fees are Lg and £10 respectively, and the inclusive charges for Board and Tuition £ 51 and £53 according to age. The Examination of the School will, in future, be conducted by the Oxford and Cambridge Board of Examiners.
