The first of a series of social gatherings was hold at Fleet-street Congregational Church, Swansea, for the purpose of wel- coming the return of a number of young men connected with the church and school. Between 70 and 80 sat down to the good tilings provided, and after satis- fying the needs of the inner man," the company were entertained by the follow- cing artistes: Miss Dolly Lethbridge, Mr. G. Colebrook, Miss Borlas Roberts, Mr. W. J. Colebrook, and Miss Gladys Smith Games, etc., were indulged ill. Ii II SKETTY. | The funeral of the late Troftperl I Richard Evans, Canadian Regt., who died last Wednesday in Buxton Hospital of pneumonia following influenza, took pJaoe j on Monday afterroon. A service was held in Wesley Church, Sketty, of which de- ceased was formerly a member. The pro- cession then wended its way to the Sketty Welsh burial ground. The coffin, draped with the Union Jack, was covered with wreaths. A., number of soldiers and sailors, Sketty lads and pais of the de- ceased, were in the procession. The prin. oipal mourners were Mr. and Mrs. Evans (parents), and the Misses Cissie, Gladys, j Nellie, Mabel, and Winnie (sisters). His brother Tom is with the Salonika Ex- pediticn. The funeral obsequies were carried out by the Rev. R. W. Green, Mumbles. The arrangements were, in the hands of Mr. Philip Ace, Sketty. Before I; his departure for British Columbia seven years ago, Troopfti Evans was Band of Hope Sunday School tocher, and member v>f the choir. Mrs. John, wife of Mrs. Thomas John, fitter, New-street, Burryport, passed away on Saturday. Mrs. John was a most faith- ful member of Tabernacle Chapr.T.
