She has had an extremely painful inncss (meningitis^, whih she bore with gr<?t patience. She wa? a most genial and lovable younj lady, and liked by all. She wa/s an active member of Tabernacle Con- gregational Church and Sunday School, where she will be sorely missed. A sad feature in connection with the circum- stances is that the mother died nearly exactly three years ago from the same com- plaint. Glynn Price) held art inquest at the Police Station on Wed nee- day afternoon touching the death of Mary Elizabeth Wall, the sixteen-days-old child of Mr. and Mrs. James .Wall, 10, Windsor- terrace. It appears that the child died very suddenly on Tuesday morning. Dr. Trafford Mitchell. M.D., wa-9 cf the opinion that death was caused by injury to the brain, through the movement of bones, which were insufficiently developed to afford the neces- sary protection. The foreman (Mr. D. J. Camp- hell, j. B. Owen, and A. Lyons) sought to recover from Richard Reed, of High street, and E. J. Davies, an assista balance due on promissory note which the defendant signed as sureties. Mr. Trevor Huu ter (instructed by Mr. Yerlev Price wivs for the plaintiffs, ana Mr. Ivor Evans for the defence. His HOllonr said he came to the CO- elusion that a case of misi epresontat .vas by no means made out or cv so far as the plaintiffs concerned. He therefore gave Illllt in favour of plaintiffcs, buc dined to allow tho boosts of any witnesses. At the Swansea County Court vaster- day, Walter Bow en, of Llansamlet, brought an action .under the Work- men s Compensation Act, against tho British M.ti.mesmann Tube "orks for an injury, which resulted in the loss ot the sight or his lett eye. Get,- a.nd Edwards) was tor tho respondents. Mr. Villiers Meager .sidd that the ap- plicant was a bar-cutter employed the British Mannesmann Tube VVorks. iibf? ?N or k Un June 10th, 1910, a piece of metal flew up and struck litri on tho left eye, cutting the lid. He was attended on the spot, but he lost eight days' work, and on his return a loosening of the retina occurred, and he lost the sight of the eye. It was agreed that the man should be paid for the eight days' work he had lost. At the works ho was paid £ i IBs. 9d. a week, but he declined To go back owing to the risk that would be incurred to the other eye, and ho had taken up farming work ny which ho made 21s. a week, including his keep. Mr. Mar lay Samson stud the respon- (lelits, caso was that the man could go back tc his old work, and he c'ould have gone back on the 18th October. Dr. Frank Thoma-s, of the Swansea Hospital, said the sight or the other eye was defective, bur. it could be re- medied bv wearing a giass. Dr. Hamilton Quick, examined by Mr. Marlay Samson, said he thought the applicant would be able to do the work required at the tube works. He did. not think there would be any risk to tho other eve. Jack Reiman, foreman at the British Mannesmann Tube Works, said there were two or three men with 0111.1 one eye doing similar work to that done by the applicant. By All1.
