IN THE WORLD OF SPORT. I — Last Home Match But One. —Only Four More Rugby Games.—The Visit of Aber- avon.—Association Foot- j ball.—A Welsh League Game With lvIid-Rhondda. TO-MOEEOWS MATCHES. RUGBY. Swansea v. Aberavon, Cardiff v. Neath. Pontardawe v. Llanelli. Newport v. Gloucester. Hendj- v. Da'.iysraig ASSOCIATION. Mid-Rhondda v. Swansea Town. New Brorapton v. Mertliyr. Abcrdare v. Cardiff City. Llanelly v. Ton Pentre. Moud v Ystalyfera (Swansea League Final) On "PENDRAGOX.") L"der ordinary circumstances the All Whites would completing their home fix- türe;, with to-morrow's match with Abcr- avon. It has, however, been decided to bring Llanelly here on April 26th. tlra original fixture with them haying been abandoned owing to the flooding of the St. Helen's Ground, The position now is that Swansea have still four more first-class games in front of them—Aberavon and Llanelly at home, and Gloucester and Bridgend away. Aberavon, who come first on the list, must be treated with respect. They drew with us early in January, and their displays since have been of such a convincing nature that they can be excused for viewing their Swansea fixture with a certain amount of optimism. Their strongest point is forward. Rees Richards and Tom Ponsford are their star per- forrccrs in thii: department, tho latter being a skirmisher well worthy of being classed with the best in the country. Richards, of course, ia one of this season's interna- tionals. SWA NS' TRIP TO TONYPANDT. ice hwans journey to Tonypandy to- morrow in order to fulfil a Welsh League engagement with the Mid-Rhondda Club. Several changes will be made in the team, but there should be no difficulty in bring- ing off the couple of points. Whittaker will be on duty between the sticks in place of Fi6her. Cieverley and Sutherland will support him, Nicholas resting for Tuesday. Andersou will try the rieht-half position with Percy Jones in the centre, and Prideaux on the left. The forwards will be constituted as followBrazell, Coleman, Weir. Ffye. and Soady. The side will there- fore be VHiittakcr; Cieverley and Suther- land; Anderson, P. Jonet-, and Prideaux; Brazell, Coleman, Weir, Ffye and Soady. BOB CRONE'S BENEFIT. I Next week "Bob" Crone, the trainer of the Swans, will take his benefit. Interest is added to the match by the fact that the Rey. Alban Pavies and .Jack Bancroft, two All Whites, have promised to lend a helping hand. SWANSEA LEAGUE FINAL. I The thoughts cf all followers of Swansea and District League Soccer football are just now centred upon next Saturday's gaine at the Swansea Vetch Field, when the Mond Niekcl Works will play Ystalyfera in the final for the Swansea and District League Senior Cup. Mond have already won this cup three out of the four c'easons it has been up for competition, and now they have again entered the final for the fourth season. In 1908-9 Moud defeated Mumbles Albions in the final by three goals to nil, and again in 1909-10 they defeated Port Talbot in the final by four goals againet two. In 1910-11 they were, however, not so fortunate, being defeated by Swansea LJnit-ed in the semi-final; but in 1931-12 they again asserted their superiority and de- feated' the all-professional Llanelly team in the final by two goals against one. This latter performance was a. notable achieve- ment on the part of the Valley amateur team HOPES OF THE MONDITES. Of course, they hope to he able to lift the Cup this season again, but if they wish to do so the Mondites will do well not to take things too easy with their opponents on Saturday, as Ystalyfera axe a keen and en- thusiastic lot, and enthusiasm, which has been described as "the lever which moves the world." is a^t to work wonders occa- sionally. lstaiyfera have been doing ex- ceedingly well this season, and Qualified for next Saturday's chief event by defeating Port Talbot in the semi, final. The game should prove keen and highly interesting, and well worth witnessing. Mond will be represented by the following team:-Goal, A. Poidge; backs, E. Broome and S. Hodg- scii (eapt.); halves, J. B. Hatherington, E. linning, and W. E. McLaughlin; forwards, C. Carty, 1. Notman, E. Turner, H. W. Davidson, and S. C. Evans. The kick-off will take place at 3.30 p.m., and it is ex- pected the game will be witnessed by a large number of spectators. UNDER BOTH CODES. I Llanelly (writes Wallaby ") have to try conclusions with Pontardawe to-morrow, and the fact that the match is to be played at Pontardawe is in itself sufficient to make one dubious as to the result, because the Scarlets have on a previous occasion been humiliated to the dust, or to be precise, in the mud," at Pontardawe l>e.'ore now. The Scarlets, when in the mood, would be able to deal with Pontardawe in a very deter- mined fashion, but indifference now seems to charactcriae their play, and as a result no reliance can be placed upon them Ton Pentre will be entertained at Halfway by the Socceritee to-morrow, but this match sinks into insignificance compared with the encounter with Swansea Town, which i.s to take place at Llanelly on Tuesday next, and the kick-off has been timed for 5.15, ec as to ensure the attendance of a. large crowd. This match is in connection with the Southern League, and is therefore of the utmost importance to Swansea Town. THE PRINCIPAL GAME. I The visit of the All Blacks to Cardiff on Saturday is erousing considerable interest at Neath, and a strong contingent of local enthusiasts are expected to accompany the teem to the áty. The recent improvement in the form displayed by the Neath team has given a fair amount, of confidence that Neath will succeed whet's SwaniMa failed. At all events, the boys intend to try hard ,to win, end have made every preparation in the shape of tminitig. It M of interest to a now that Swansea people who i-. ,'v w la."1t. Saturday's game at Cardiff, and those of the Swansea team 1 have spoken to, cou- oiuer that Neath are fully capable of de- feating Cardiff, especially in front-that i6, of course, if the All Blacks' forwards play as they ca.n play, for there mutt be no stage fright, neither must there that fatal slack" quarter of an hour which affects the Neath team in some of their big games- Neath have now not only a good pa^k, but a sound back division who have t'h- ability to profit, by any eheneta given them. To-morrow the young recruits have a. chance to win their spurs, and much of their future reputation will depend upon the display they will give at Cardiff Arms Park. AN INJURED SHOULDER. "M'' I W. P. Geen will be unable to play for Newport against Gloucester to-morrow, as he has not yet recovered from an injury to his shoulder which occurred in the match with Pontypool on Easter Monday. lIe was put down heavily and dislocated a shoul- der, but slipped the bone back immediately. He is now badly bruised, and unable to raise his arm. H. Uzzell is also unable to play in consequence of an injury sustained in the same match. It is hoped both may be fit for the match with the Harlequins at Twiçkepham on Saturday week. J ITEMS. The death took place at PortheaNvi on Wednesday of Mr Cyril Meadows Hara>6ton, of Pontypool. He was an all-round athlete, and for a few seasons played for the Ponty- pool Club. Cardiff City will play in the Welsh League next season. 1 ü- J TEAMS FOR TO-MORROW. Dauygraig v. Resolvon. Leading Fitter's Salary. I A discussion a-rose on a question asked bv Mr. Miller wil h reference to the salary of the leading fitter.
