No child can leave School or be employed under 12 years of age, or any chiid between 12 and 14 years of age, unless such child has passed the 6th Standard (by individual examination) in Read- ing, Writing and Arithmetic. PARTIAL EXEMPTION. No child can be granted partial exemption under 12 years of age. To obtain partial exemption a child must pass the 5th or higher Standard in Reading, Writing and Arithmetic, and the parent must show, to the satisfaction of the School Attendance Committee, that the child is to be beneficially and necessarily employed, and obtain from them a Labour Certificate. All children over 12 years of age requiring a Certificate of Proficiency, or Labour Certificate, must be present for examination, and their names given to the principal teacher of the School they attend, not later than Wednesday, November 6th.
