FURTHER BRITISH SUCCESSES. ÅOTHER LAAGER SURPRISED. It is now clear that when General Plumer's mobile column marched out of Petersburg a fortnight. ago a strong British garrison was left in !;ho town. A portion of that garrison— Kitchener's Fighting Scouts — lias surprised and captured Van Rensburg's laager at Klipdam, about 20 miles north of Pietersburg. The enemy had s-ven men killed and 37 prisoners were taken. In the first, of two despatches Lord Kitchener states that Colonel Grenfell, who was jn command of the Krifish force, captured 8,000 rounds of ammunition and alt the Boer wagons, carts, horses, oxen, and mules. In the flecmd message it is reported that Colonel Grenfell has ta.ken, in addition to the captures reported, 38.500 rounds of sin ill ammunition and four prisoners The other columns engaged in the operations in the Transvaal report that three Boers have been 1-illfi, that 57 have surrendered, and that a quick-firing gun and 58 prisoners have been taken. At Lydenbnrg 20 Hoers have surren- dered, and General Bittdou Blood has also taken somo prisoners at Roossenkal. The casualty lists issued on Monday shew that General Rundle, in his march from Harri- Rinith to Bethlehem, in the Orange River Colonv-, had some fighting at Tigersloof on Tuesday. His casualties were not serious. In the same colony, but further to the south, near Wepener, Colonel Byng bas been engnged with a Boer force, probably a remnant of the com- mando under Piec Fourie. Five of the enemy were killed and two captured. Some Boers have appeared between the Orange river and Kimb^rley. They blew up the railway in three places between Graspan and Belmont, but the damage was casiJy repaired. j
