I THE POPULATION OF CHESTER. I ■L According to the Census of 1901 the population Y within the municipal boundary was 3S,:)08, as com. pared with ><7,105 in 1891, or an increase of 12"3. The population within the Parliamentary bouadary, L which embraces Hoole and several outlying districts, r was 41,910, as against 41,391 in 1891, or an increase of 3519. In the Chester C.istle sub-district there was an increase of 700 in the municipal boundary, the < population being 20,129, as against 19,429, in 1891; while within the Parliamentar3- boundary of this sub-district, the population was 20,599 as against 19,713, an increase of 856. There was an increase of k503 in the municipal population of the Cathedral sub- pit district, which was 18,179.
