The Council had under consideration "the Question of the provision of bathing vans, and it was stated that no reply had been received from Messrs Dac;os Bros, as to whether they had any vans for sale. The Council thereupon decided to instruct the Sur- veyor to get particulars of the coat of timber, and to invite tenders for the construction or fifty new vans, sp as to provide first-class vans for the use of visitors next sea -on. In the duet competition Mr Jonah Owen and Miss Annie Evans todk the first prize, and the local tenor, Mr Tom Padarn Roberts, won the tenor solo. OBITUARY. — Last week. at the Narit Padarn Churchyard, the remains were inter- red of Mr John Trevor Williams, whose death thro«ifrli accident was brieny, reportcd in our last issue. The Rev. J. Evans Owen (Jeru- salem) officiated at ',be- house. and the Rev. Lewis Jenkins. B.A., in the church and at the Kravesido. They responded loyally to this ap- poal, with tlxo result that the catohes in- creased oonsiderably, and Pwllheli took tlie third place among- the sixteen minor porta in the Lanca-shire and Westem Sea Fisheries district. The fishermen were under the impression that they couldst,ill fcdi with a smaller net, not having road the committee's warning advertisements in the local papers. Mr Davies mentioned that of the four- teen ifshermen, comprising the orew of these five boats, • eight had sorvod their country, and he hoped that some con- sideration would be given them by the. Bench on that account. The magisitrateis retired to discuss the cases, and on re-entering the court, the Chairman said: The ilench feel that as this is the first prosecution of this-nature brought before them since the termina- tion of the war, they must show some len- iency. and they therefore inflict a nominal fine of P.1 in each case."

Whiltakor was the M.C. and ex-Regt.- Sergeant-Major Jack Buruell, president of tho local branch of the Comrades of the War, act- ed as chairman for the second part of tho „ programme. In the course of the evening C'apt. Whit- taker .said he had be:n requested to ask for the views of the men on the questions of whether a hall, where the men could meet ill t.ii-t- for or t cross or other monumental orcction should be the form of the local war memorial. The voting was unanimously iu favour of a hall. Their views were asked on whether the war trophy, a field gun. should l>e accepted. Gregory and Deplodge; of the Duke of Wellington's Regiiiient, both of whom were in the etrcat from Mons; ap- peared on aharges of being drunk and dis- orderly "and assaulting the poiioe. uotn defendants pleaded that they were so drunk that they did not remember any- thing. The defendants were lined Ll oaoh for being drunk and disorderly, and £5 each for the assault on the police, with the alternative of two months' hard labour. The fines were paid in both cases. EMPLOYMENT FOR WOMEN. At a meeting of the women's sub-commititee of the Wrexham Employment Committee, it was reported that the work at the train- ing centre was proceeding smoothly, and that thô girls showed keen interest in Cookery and other domestic duties. Ex- co-len't reports had been received from the employers of those who had completed the course and been found situations. The waiting l'ist of applicants for training was of considerable length, and only- the best type of girl was being accepted. CRYING PAPEIS ON SUNDAY -Oil Mon- day. at the Borough magistrates' court, four young lads named Owen Owf-tii. 22, Crown- street, David E. Williams. 28, -Wesley-street; William Davies, 23, lteltdre-strect-, and Lewis Lfxtn. 8, Little Chapel-street, were sumnwned for shout ins for the purpose of selling news- papers on Sunday. Superintendent Williams, who prosecuted, said that he had received seV- eral complaints in regard to the habit of shouting in the streets on Sunday. In con- sequence of this he ordered two constables to be on duty in plain clothes. Two of the de- fendants pleaded uilty, In answer to a question given by one. of the magistrates Su- perintendent Williams said that the papers were sciven the defendants to sell by a man named Hawkins. Between 1,000 a.nd 2,000 papers wero sold by the boys on a Sunday, and they earned between 5s and 15s one day. The summonses were dismissed with a caution, and the defendants ordered to pay the costs.- THE COTTAGE HOSPITAL.—On Friday a special meeting of the subscribers of the Cot- tage Hospital- was held. The chair- man said that the meeting was con vert oil to, consider some important alterations that should be made in tlie rutes with reference to the payments for patients at the hospital.
