WELSH SELF-GOVERNMENT. NATIONAL CONFERENCE CON- I VENED AT LLANDRINDOD. Practically all the County, Borough, and District Councils of Wales and Monmouth. iihire will be directly represented at the National Conferences on Sel f-.goveminent for Wales to be held at Llandmndod Wells on Whit-Monday evening and the two fol- lowing days. The gathering is convened by the Executive Council of the WeMi National Conference held at Llandrindod last summer. At the inaugural publio meeting, on the evening of Whit-Monday, when Major David Davies, M.P., will preside, it ie expected that Profeissor A. C. Zimmem (recently appointed to the Wilson Onair of International Politics in the University of. Wales) will open with an addresta on "The International Settlement in its Bear- ing on Small Nationalities." Tuesday morning's conference will aim at obtain- ing agreement as to the exact form of autonomy which Wales desires, and Sir Walter P. Nichoias, clerk to the Rhondda District Council, will preside. Mr R. T. Jonee, of Carnarvon, the secretary of the North Wales Quarry men's Union, will be Tuesday afternoon's president, when the subject will be Autonumy in Relation to Industrial Conditions" Mr Forestder- Walker, M.P., wilt be Tuesday evening's president, for the discussion of Wales' re- lation to the Ministry of Health and the problems of housing. The most important conference of the week will be held on Wednesday morning under the presidency of the Lord Mayor of Cardiff, when representatives of local authorities will deal with "autonomy in its relation to public administration." One of the speakers will be Alderman William George, the Premier's brother. The concluding conference, on Wednesday afternoon, with Alderman the Rev. D. H. Williams (chairman of the Central Welsh Board) in the chair, will voice the demands of the Principality for autonomy in educational matters.
