From Salem Chapel and Tanybont Mission Chapel and the Ranged School 106 persons are serving their country. PRISONER OF W AR.-Mrs L. C. Jcnes, 15, Northgate-street, has received a postcard from her husband, Mr Richard Jones, car- penter, informing her tnat he is a prisoner oi war at Gefjmgenanlager, Dulmeni, Ger- many. He was carpenter en a steamer which was sunk by a German submarine. He is the eldest son of Mrs Margaret Jones, 14, Cnapel-Htreet, and of the late Mr J. Jones, oarpenter. B.R.C.S.—The sisters, nurses, and men of Military Hospital, Tootal-road, West Manchester, were highly gratified and pleased ou Saturday morning to fuid the name of their Matron (Miss E. M. They have bad sicik and wounded soldiers from all parts of tho United Kingdom and the Dominions—some from "good old Carnarvon" itself, coming from all parts of the war. The defendant said he did not know two lamps were required and added that some time ago police complained he had too milch lisrht.—Two lads named Owen Parry and Gwilynr Davies, of Henrlre-streot, Car- narvon,, were summoned for stealing two trees from Bvynmorfa cover. The Town Clerk (Mr R. O. Roberts), who prosecuted, said the lalls cut the trees down with a "saw and carried tfiem h >me P.C. J. R. Roberts <2S) said that seven trees in the Cover were damaged. Tho Town Clerk stated that he was instructed not to press the ease in view of the hard times prevailing. One of the boys told the Bench he did not know he was doing wrong. For some time prior to ioining the Army he had become a partner with his father in the coal business. He was very popular with all liia associates and was ouo of the best billiaid plavervs in the town. He was a member of Seion C.M. Chapel, of which his father is a deacon. Simultaneously came the news of the death in camp at Whittington of Private T. S. Parry, son of Mr and Mrs John Parry, Tv Capel, Rhoslan. Scarcely has a month elapsed wince Private Owen S. Jones, son of Mr and Mrs Edward Jones, Stanley-road, joined the Army. He was etmt to Kinmel Park, where he was taken ?fcriously ill and died. His remains were brought home by train on Tuesday night. The coffin, which was enveloped in the Union Jack, was met at the station by the deacons of Jerusalem Congregational Chapel, whore deceased was a member. There was a very large gathering too c-f tho general public. The funeral (pirblic for men) was largely attended on Wednesday afternoon. The Rev J. W. Edward.?. Tabor, officiated. Tlie mourners were Mr Edward Jones (father), Mr Henry Jones (grandfather), and Master Arthur Jonf-i (brother); Mr W. P. Jones, of Messrs II. P. OBIfyAKY. I MR BONNER THOMAS. I The death has occurred of Mr E. R. Bonner Thomas, watchmaker, Bank-place, at the age of 44 years. He was only ill a week and succumbed to pneumonia. He leaves a wife, one boy, and one girl. As the little boy Was aLso ill, and as Mrs Thomas' father died about the same time, t-he townspeople gener- ally sympathise wibh the family. Mr Thomas was one of the best amateur violinists in tho coumy-and played for many years the lead- ing violin at orchestral concerts, including performances of "Tho Messiah," "Samson," Tuda-i Maecabetu etc.. His services were always given to help every good cause. MEMORIAL TO FALLEN HEROES. Mr W. Howell Wurams, chairman of the War Memorial Committee, reported t.hat committee wore not yet in a position to definitely submit a memorial scheme to the Council.
