Y SoxlL?i) i Wales Chronicle Tobacco Fund In response to the constant cry from Flanders and the Dardanelles for more cigarettes and tobacco, we have opened this Fund to send smokes to the men who have left this district. WiH you help us, for the district's sake? SMOKES FOR OUR LO AL HEROES! In spite of what has already been done for the men at the Front, there remains much more to do. Our gallant heroes, whether in Flanders or elsewhere, ask for few comforts, but they do ask. urgently and continually, for cigarettes and tobacco. This is true of practically all of them, but we appea.1 especially on behalf of the lads who have left this district! This is a local effort for local men. Other districts are looking after their o'.vn friends, and it surely behoves us to look after ours The need for this useful and patriotic work has Been emphasised by Sir lan Hamilton, by high officers on the Continent, and commanders at sea.. Will you help us in it now ? We have completed arrangements with Messrs. Martins. Ltd.. the well-known tobacco firm, to supply our local regiments in France aad the Dardanelles on the most favourable terms possible. Through this firm, we are able to send the cigarettes and tobacco duty-free, carriage-free, and with free distribution, as the Government, the War Omce and the Admiralty have granted these privileges. Thanks to these arrangements, we are able to send 30 Cigarettes and 2 ozs. of Tobacco for every sixpence subscribed. Thus, if yon subscribe a sovereign, we will send a parcel, as described above, to 40 men, or we can send to a commanding omcer, for distribution, well over a thousand cigarettes and five pounds of tobacco. If you sent forty parcels yourself, the postage alone would be 2, and the cost of the cigar- ettes and tobacco probably £3 more. Therefore this is the most economical way In which you can send smokes to oar local heroes. fighting so gallantly for their King and country. All the money you send is spent entirely in tobacco and cigarettes. We do not deduct one penny for working expenses, our services being gladly given free. Indeed, we are as pleased to undertake our share of this patriotic work as we expect you will be. If you prefer, you may have your parcels addressed to an individual seldier or sailor, I but this entails delay, as FREE delivery through the Military Forwarding Authorities to individuals takes much lo¿,er than the Parcels Post. If, for sake, you will risk this delay, it is necessary when addressing individuals to giva full particutars, regimental number, rank. name, company, and battalion. Let us now brieny give you the advantages of our Fund :—(1) It is employed solely to send tobacco and cigarettes, which they need more than anything else, to soldiers and sailors. (2) It is used on Cigarettes and Tobacco only, 30 Cigarettes, 2 ozs. of Mixture. without deducting one penny for working ex- penses, duty, carriage, or distribution. (3) t is intended, primarily, to benefit our local regiments, but & subscription can be given to My regiment you choose, so that any friends abroad may benefit. (4) It helps to put the Boys at the Front in touch with home and kindred.. This last-named advantage deserves spsciat attention. In every parcel \Veud.e,c a return postcard, addressed to t&e {ttr, so that the recipient of yotar gift can write you personally to express his thanks. These post- cards win be interesting souvenirs of the great war from men of your own district who fought in it. Wilt you help us make this fund a striking success? Subscriptions, large or small, will be acknowledged in these columns, quite apart from the acknowledgments you receive from the Front. Kindly send your cheque or P.O. to-day.
