ECONOMICAL TRASSIT.-There is only one form of road locomotion for everyone who wishes to study real economy in these days—that provided by the bicycle. What is illustrated in the case of F. W. Prosser, of Chandos road, Bristol, who, under date of the 6th inst, writes that he has ridden his Raleigh now 23,000 miles in five years, in all weathers, without the slightest trouble and indeed the machine rnns sweeter to-day than when new, A first-class bicycle involves no further expense and I bere is really nothing to equal it as a money and time-saver combined.

LUSITANI.A VICTIMS. !
LUSITANI.A VICTIMS. FEARED LOSS OF TWO BAGILLT SISTERS. Nurse Annie Urosby and Miss JNellie Urosby, •dressmaker, sisters, and daughters of a Mrs. Crosby, formerly of Liverpool, and now of The Cottage, Voelgron, Bagillt, have, it is feared, been lost with the steamer Lusitania. The ladies were travelling from Vancouver, where they bad been residing five years, in order to pay their moher a visit at the Bagillt address, and they had intimated to their mother and a married -sister that they would be on the vessel; and on the Saturday morning following the sinking of the ship Mrs. Crosby received a letter from her son in Vancouver stating that the ladies were journey- ing on the vessel, and had left Vancouver for that purpose. As no tidings of the ladies have been received from Vancouver since and all inquiries at Queenstown and in Liverpool having proved un- availing to discover their whereabouts it is con- cluded by the family they have been victims on ithe boat.

THE 4th (DENBIGHSHIRE TERRITORIALS. J GREAT NEED FOR REGELUITS. The 4tb Battalion (territorials) which has slendered snch splendid service at the front, is greately in need of recruits. The Battalion has been fighting almost continuously since Neuve Cbapelle, and by its magnificent and heroic work has already gained an imperishable name both for itself and and the county to which it belongs. The gallant corps cannot maintain its efticiencyas a fighting unit unless the gaps are Mgolarly filled up, and when it is borne in mind that the strength of the Battalion at the front is at present not more than 400, the need for a speedy response is obvious. The casualities re- cently sustained have neccessitated considerable changes including the following; Adjt. Mears to be Commanding Officer; 2nd Lieut. Clayton (son of the late Maj. Clayton, Brynmally) to be acting- djutant Capt. Williams to take command of No 1 Co.; 2nd Lieut. Donald Seymour- Jone a,;to be acting Captain of No 2 Co.; and two other 2ud Lieutenants as Acting Capcaitis of No. 3 and 4 Cos., each with one junior subaltern.

CAR OVERTURNED. I
CAR OVERTURNED. I LADY PASSENGER PINNED TO THE I GROUND. | A motor party, consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Hurst, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith and Mr. and 1¡Mrs. Seed, all of Bolton, were dfinng to Llan- elian, near Colwyn Bay, ou Monday, and were going up a very ateep hill when the engine failed. The driver applied the brakes, but one wheel ?? ,w ent up an embankment and the car overturned. Mrs. Frank Smith, of 102, Chorley New-road, Bolton, whose husband is a science master at the -Bolton Municipal School, was pitting in the front seat between the driver and Mrs. Seed, and was pinned under the car. She was unconscious when extricated, and died on arrival at the Colwyn Bay Medical Home. She was 36 years of age. The other passengers were also slightly injured. I II THE INQUEST. I An inquest was held on the body of Mrs. Smith, at Colwyn Bay, on Tuesday evening. Mr. R. H. Hurst, Radcliffe-road, Bolton, iron- works manager, who gave evidence, said he drove to Colwyn Bay with his friends, and when passing along the main road they decided to visit a farm at Llanelian. They asked the way and were directed to take the road leading up from the Colwyn Bay Laundry. All went well until they were nearing the village of Llanelian. where the road was narrow and steep, with sharp curves. He had changed to low gear, and was rounding a curve on aeteep gradient when the oar, not having sufficient momentum to go up the hill, began to go backwards. He tried to back into the low hedge, but the back wheel ran up a steep bank and threw the car over. He did not lose, control of the car. He and Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Smith were pinned under the car, but the others were thrown out. Mr. W. H. Seed, architect, Bolton, who was, with his wife in the car, corroborated Mr. Hurst's evidence, and Mr. D. R. Pickt-ring, Abergele.road, Colwyn Bay, who witnessed the accident, also described it. The Cor ooer (Mr. R. Davies) said it was surpris- ing that anyone should recommend a stranger to take a heavy car up such a road. Whoever directed Mr. Hurst up that road completely misled him. The jury found that Mrs. Smith met her death by accident, and that no blame was to be attached to anyone. Sympathy was expressed with. the bereaved husband and the other relatives. The jury recommended that a warning notice as to the character of the road should be put up at the entrance to it. The Coioner said be would convey that recommendation to the Urban District Council, and suggested that Mr. Hurst should draw the attention of the Royal Automobile Club to the neoessity of some means of warning motorists not to take their cars on to that road. Mr. Hurst, who thanked the jury for their expression of sympathy with his friend, said he would act upon the Coroner's advice with reference to the Automobile Club.
