Howell Davies, for defendant, mentioned that the plaintiff became land- lord by the acquisition of the house on October 5th, and not when he became en. titled to the rent- Mr. Wallis Jonas contended that plain- tiff hecame landlord when he purchased the house on the 12fh September and patd a deposit of "111. The Act did not: mean that lie must acquire actual possession of the'house; it was sufficient that he tshould acqhire an interest in it. ns Honour said it was not an easy point to decide. He was of opinion that plaintiff d'd not become landlord until after the 30th September, and he gave judgment for defendant.

The presence of one such was made known to the Ammanford justices on Monday, when Patrick Lewis, Gorsddu-road, Tenygroes applied for the ejectment of Joseph Price, living in his house at Railway View, Glanamiuan. The defendant had 1.1 in family, and his wife, despite persistent efforts over a wide area, bad failed to ) secure a house. On Friday the students of the Wirelesa Training College, Swansea, held a fare- well, concert to commemorate the depar- ture of their principal, Mr. J. E. Evans, for Cardiff, where he is about to take up important duties in connection, with wire- less. Mr. Evans was presented with a. suit case (suitably inscribed) as a token of the high esteem in which he was held. The presentation was made, on bel\alf of the (students and staff, by Mr. Souvain, who is Mr. Evans's successor as principal. In the continuous progress of the Inde- pendent Order of Rechabites throughout the country, Swansea is bearing its fair proportion. First established here. in 1873, it has now 2,800 Order members, 3,200 btate, and 1,000 juvenile members. For defence evidence was given that the milk, though it had been in cold storage for three days. had not Itoeu tampered with in any way from receipt to sale. In evidence it came out that tlie milk had not all been freed frot-a ice afber tea-ring cold storage, therefore the magi- strafes held that it was not sold in the same condition as it had been supplied.
