Jones, general manager of the "Da,ily Post," said that all the advertising in the "Da.ily Post" was free, and the printing, programmes, con- fetti, badges, etc., supplied by the "Daily Post" v.-tts absolutely at cost price. He wished to ma ke that asser- tion in consequence of unfair criticism h'om certain quarters. Mr. C. C. Vivian connrmett Mr. J. Jones' statement, and said Mr. J. Sounders, Mr. E. R. In June last he returned home for the purpose of joining tho Royal Flying Corps, and he attained proficiency so rapidly that. within a fortnight he was ab!e to return to France as an observer and take his place with the eyes of the army on the butt-Ie line. Since then he has participated in most cf the severe nghting that has taken place, and he died in action as already stated last Monday. Two days after he fell he was gazetted to a full lieutenancy as from July 1st. The greatest .sympathy is felt for the be- reaved parents, whose eldest son, Sergt. Ronald Hughes, or the ArgyU and Sutherlands, was recently taken prisoner of war during the heavy ngliting on, the Belgium front, after all the commanding omcers of his unit had fallen. FLUCTUATING TRADE. LAST WEEK AT SWANSEA DOCKS. Swansea, Monday.—The trade of the por<t last week was about the average of theat times, which is some 40 per cent. of the ngarea of TL915. There was a small decreaat as agajnst the preceding week. Compared, however, with the corresponding week last year au increase of 30,000 tons is shown. The import trade displayed no improve ment and coa.1 shipmente were very lunited. Patent fuel exports were more active, ajut the general exports subst&ntia.
