Hughes, Felinfocl, near Llanelly, pas.ed the senior exam- ination which is Nillivalent to the Welsh Matriculation. He is only 11 years of age. A collision occurred at Llanelly oil Thursday between two motor cars, ono belonging to Lieut.-Col.-Surgeon E. Evans and the other to Dr. Barclav. The col- lision took place at the junction of Glenalla-road and Glevering-street, and no one was injured, but Dr. Evans' car was damaged. At Pontardawe Council, on Thursday Mr. David Lewis (Gwouncaegurweji) referred to 1 an alleged injustice in his district by the action of the Brynamman Lighting 00. in insisting npon payment of 2s. per month from consumers whether the light was used or not. Notice had been giveii to this effect, by the company. and consumers were wantcd that unless the clause was adhered their supplies would lie cut off. COUNCIL. I BRITON FERRYCOUNCIL. At the monthly meeting of the Briton- j ferry I>istnet Council, hrld on Thursday evening, the water engineer (Mr. H. A. Clarke) reported that trespluiying had in- creased at the Reservoir, and the fencing enclosing the filter beds was broken, and the valves and service tajik had been in- terlored with. He had succeeded in catching two boy offenders, and these were brought before Council and admonished by the viee-chairmn'n. The gas employees' application for a 1 £ 1 per cent, increase in their wages wa.s granted as from the 12th August last. The ("-fiinell decided that the price for coke be increased to 25s; per ton, and that the price for electricity be increased I;d, per unit.—It was decided that the public lighting of the town be resumed as la-st yea r. An app-f'catiop was received from the South Wales Transport Co., Swansea, for the renewal of the-ir licence for running their 'butes through the town.—It was de- cided to grant the licence, the clerk beiing instructed to write the manager about the complaints.
