Vaughan Edwards (pre- siding) in the ease in which a man was summoned for being absent from work without cause, 6aid to a solicitor appear- ing for the man that he was sorry but the poWerS that be" had decreed a man could not have the assistance of a solicitor as such in the local Munition Court. He himself did not think it was always productive of the best results for a man sharged with a serious offence not to have the assistance of a. solicitor, but it was not ror him to decree. He had to cany out instructions. Assistance could be given to a man by the trade union representa- tive who appeared for him but not as an advocate.
