Among the victims; of the London muni- tion works explosion was a daughter of 3!is. Godsell, 5, Gcppa-row, with whom much sympathy is felt. This lady has her only three eons in the fighting lines.

I BRYNHYFRYD. I The weekly Gospel Temperance meeting in connection with, the Eaton-road Mission was well attended on Saturday evening. Mr. W. Day presided. The mu-siccj parts were well rendered by Miss Muriel Cole, Mr. Eddie Evans. Miss Violet Ball; duets were taken by Masters Willie and Bertie Day; and the elocution was well sustained I by their little sister, Muriel Day. An address in which he condemned the State purchase of the liquor trade was given by Mr. T. J. Williams, Swansea.

I GOWEiRYOW. On Monday afternoon Mr. Glynn Price held a.n inquiry at Gowerton into the death of Griffith George Brown, who was employed as a crane driver at Messrs. Baldwin's Steel Works. Gowerton. Mr. P. D. Atkins and Mr. Bull (solicitor) re- presented the employers, and the Inspector of Factories was also present. The jury brought in a verdict to the effect that death was caused by general poisoning caused by the deceased slipping off the platform of the crane to the ground.

I LLANDOVERY. The Llandovery Borough Tribunal met on Monday, under the presidency of the Mayor (Mr. Pryse Rice). Twelve applica- tions were dealt with. One application was withdrawn, applicant stating that he would join up on the Second of April, after he had finished some gardening for his employer. Three were exempted for six months. One applicant it was found was above military^ age. A draper was given. tnvo months. The tribunal wished I the Press to note that applicants must go before the Medical Board. Those who did not would be assumed to be in Class A 1.

I- I The funeral of Mrs. sarah Ann Mor- gans, wife of Mr. Phillip Morgans, Elm Cottage, took place on Saturday at I Xoddfa burial ground, It was one of the biggest ever seen in the district. The I officiating ministers were: Rev. T. I Roberts, pastor; T-L'cv. Williams, -Tlan- dilo; Rev. Walters, Glanamman; Rev. J. Williams, Gowerton; Rev. B. Eliott, ¡ Gorseinon; and Rev. J. Thomas, Glan- I, amman. L. Griffiths played the Dead March on the organ. Deceased, who was 45 years of age. leaves a hus- band, ono daughter and three sons, one of whom is Mr. Morgan I. Morgans, organist of Xoddfa Baptist Chapel.

The proceed-' of the lecture went to support Mr. William Price, Wannleishon, who has been in hos- pital for some time. We regret to record the death of Islwyn, the little son of Mr. William Evans, Cwm- gorsx Islwyn passed away on Sunday morning after a very brief illness. A sad burning fatality occurred at Tair- gwaith on Saturday afternoon. While the mother was out, the little child of Mr and Mrs. Samuel Leonard got too near the fire, and receivod fearful burns which proved fatal.

I PORT TALSOT. I The annual meeting of the local branc-h of the British and Foreign Bible Society was held at Bethany, Port Talbot, on Mon- day night. Irr. Edward Lov-ther (Chair- man of the Urban Council) presided, and ttho Rev. Crv.-ys Williams, deputation on 'behalf of the parent society, gavo an inter- esting address on the society's work. The report of the treasurer (Mr. E. Davies) was road by Mr. Loveluck (secretary), and showed that the rcc-eipts during the year were ■ £ 28 10s. ad. and the expenditure 18s. Cd., £27 10s. lid. being sent to the pircnt society. For the fift time jn its history there had been a juvenile collec- tion, and this realised over X-21, The trado at the port during the past week was as follows:-Exports: Coal and coke, 32,729; fuel, 1,400; angles, 400; mak- ing a total of 31,528. SOLDIER3S LAPSE. SOLDIER'S LAPSE. i Eventful Journey From Swassssa to Lianelly. Pte. Arthur Clayton, stationed at Pem- brey, was charged at the Llanelly* Police (. Liirt on Monday with stealing a wallet containing a cheque for .£5, two 10s. notes and a P.O. for 3s. Mr. F. N. Powell ap- peared for the prosecution. Meredith Keenan, adet at the O.T.C. at Bristol, said he was returning from I' Swansea on Saturday and paid for his ticket out of paper money he carried in a wallet which he placed in his mackintosh I pocket. lie first saw defendant on the platform at the Swansea G.W.R. Station just after he had taken his ticket. Wit- ness noticed him because he pushed against him. He next saw defendant on the footbridge at Llanelly Station. De- fendant was carrying a newspaper, and witness next felt something in his pocket. Witness immediatoly searched for his wallet and found it missing. Being sus- picious of the defendant he accused him, and the man, who had the wallet in his left hand, dropped it. After picking the wallet up witness gave the man in charge. Defendant, who pleaded guilty, said he tad no intention of depriving the owner of the wallet. All he wanted was to take it to the Police Station in the hope of getting his discharge from the Army. Since he was wounded in France he had been unable to do a day's duty and was classed B 2. ( The Bench, in view of defendanes record ia the Army, dismissed the ca^e .7th caution. David Williams was on Monday fined £ 10 for entering a munition works" with a match in his pocket. The Great Western Railway is advertis- ing a reward to the finder of any of the fivp hired railway wagons lost on their system. Dr. John James Barrett, of Balham, died at Battersea General Hospital on Monday from injuries caused by a fall in l the street.
