These charges were also the outcome of the viait of the Divisional Inspector on the 19th November, as the result of a complaint made to the Ministry of Food by Mrs A. Wilkinson, 64, Charles-street, Abertysswg. On the date of his visit, the Inspector stated he was handed a bill and a jam pot, which Mrs Wilkinson stated she had pur- chased at Mr Levine's shop on Oct. 5th. The woman farther stated that she had had no jam from anywhere 8inee she left Rhymney on the 27th April last. Within a few j weeks she approached him again, ask- I ing to be transferred back to Pegler's. 1 However, he refused to sanction it. Mr D. T. Williams (vice-chairman) submitted that it was a very flimsy ease. The only evidence they had was an empty jam pot.-—Mr E. J. Edwards: And it was purchased nearly two months agor-Mr Griffiths said that from the facts revealed it wbnld appear that the woman had a grievance against this particular tradesman.-The Chairman (Mr R. Rutherford) paid if he were sitting on the Bench when such a ease was beiDg adjudicated, he should regard that person as a discreditable witness. The faeta should be communicated to the authorities that this woman had made allegations which she was un-I able Ito subs IIL-antiate.-After further discussion, the Clerk was instructed to reply on the above lines to the Commissioner.
