THE INTEGRITY OF BAR. GOED'S RAILWAY MEN. In these days of war practically all sections of public and private concerns are hampered by the depletion of staffs and the reorganising of available em- ployees, with the incTitablc result that something goes wrong. No class has been more harassed in this respect than railway people, but in spite of all this they have accomplished their work in a marvellous and highly satisfactory manner. Many people, however, overlook the difficulties by magnifying their own, and blame railway officials when there is ab- solutely no ueed to do so. We have a couple of instances in mind where a shortage of a few bags of potatoes led the oocsigneea to attribute dis- honesty to the local railway men The matter was investigated, and the result of the enquiries proved that the potatoes bad not been loaded at the despatching station. This clearly proved that the integrity and honesty of the Bargoed railway men was above all reproach. There can be no doubt that having regard to the large i volumo of traffic handled by railway- men in general, that in all grades of the great system there is not a more honourable class of men dealing with public a&tirs than the members of the A S.R.S.
